2022-08-25@10:18pm–#Stratford CT– I-95 northbound is closed due to a rollover accident near Main Street exit 36 with six people reported injured.
At approx. 7:00 PM, The Stratford Fire Dept. was dispatched to 9 Alvord St., for a
reported structure fire. On arrival, Engine 2 reported heavy fire on the west side
exterior of the structure with heavy fire in the attic. Under the command of
Assistant Chief Brennan, Engines 1, 2, 3, 4, Tac5 and Truck 1 responded with a
total of 22 firefighters and 2 Safety Officers. The fire initially started on the exterior
of the 1,800 square foot colonial style home. The fire was under control in approx.
40 minutes. There were no injuries reported.
One adult and a dog were home at the time of the fire and escaped unharmed. The
family of three is temporarily displaced as the home is uninhabitable.
The Milford and Bridgeport Fire Departments provided mutual aid coverage
during the incident and were dispatched at approx. 7:30 PM, to 186 Larkin Ct. for a
grill fire which ignited a 12’x14’ storage shed; the shed was fully involved on
Bridgeport Battalion 2’s arrival. Bridgeport Engine 6 and Milford Engine 4
extinguished the fire.
At 9:29 PM. Stratford was dispatched to an apartment building at 167 Dewey St. for
smoke in the basement. On arrival a working basement fire was called. The fire was
located inside a basement utility room. The fire was quickly extinguished. The
Stratford Fire Department checked all apartments for working smoke alarms,
installing three. There were no injuries at this incident and no residents were
displaced.
Additional station coverage during the incidents was provided by Shelton and
Nichols Fire Departments.
The origin and cause of the fires are under investigation by the Stratford Fire
Marshal’s Office.
The Stratford Fire Department reminds all residents of the importance of having
working smoke alarms in the home. Any Stratford resident in need of smoke alarms
can call the Fire Marshal’s Office (203)-385-4073 for a free in-home safety survey.
2022-08-21@9:30pm–#Stratford CT– #ctfire– Firefighters called to the 100 block of Dewey Street for a fire in the basement put out by the homeowner. Firefighters made sure the fire was out and helped with the smoke condition in the home. The fire marshal, building and electrical inspectors requested to the scene.

Police UPDATE: On 08/18/2022 at approximately 1:30 pm Officers from the Stratford Police Department responded to the area of South Ave and Spada Blvd to investigate a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, the investigation determined that a Honda driven by Jamar Blackburn (age 38) of Bridgeport exited I95 south at exit 31 and crashed into a Ford driven by Jason Fonseca- Kennedy (age 26) of Waterbury. Kennedy was traveling east on South Ave.
The Ford pickup driven by Kennedy rolled over and the Honda driven by Blackburn came to rest a distance away on Spada Blvd. As a result of the crash, the roadways and associated exit ramp were closed for several hours while investigators managed the scene.On 08/22/2022 the victim, Jason Fonseca-Kennedy succumbed to his injuries sustained in the event and was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital. Jamar Blackburn was treated for injuries he sustained in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and charges are expected.2022-08-18@1:30PMish– Police are investigating a serious crash off I-95 southbound exit 31. Stratford Fire UPDATE: At approx. 11:08 AM, The Stratford Fire Dept. was dispatched to 65 Guzzi Drive,
for a reported structure fire. On arrival, Engine 2 reported a fully involved
structure fire. Under the command of Assistant Chief Brennan, Engines 1, 2, 3, 4,
Tac5 and Truck 1 responded with a total of 22 firefighters and 1 Safety Officer. The
fire was located inside the living room of the 1,000-square-foot ranch-style single-family home. The fire was under control in approx. 20 minutes. The Milford and
Bridgeport Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident. There
were no injuries reported.
Two adults and an infant were home at the time of the fire and escaped unharmed.
There were no working smoke alarms inside the dwelling at the time of the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting the 12 occupants as the residence is not
habitable at this time.
The Stratford Fire Dept. canvassed the neighborhood after the fire and checked
residents’ smoke alarms. Smoke alarms were installed in two residences.
Stratford residents are reminded to call the Fire Marshal’s office at 203-385-4073
for a free smoke alarm survey.
The origin and cause of this fire is under investigation by the Stratford Fire
Marshal’s office.
2022-08-17 #Stratford CT– Firefighters battled a fire on Guzzi Drive. According to radio reports, one person was treated for smoke inhalation and ten people have been displaced by the fire.

2022-08-12@2:35pm–#Stratford CT– A woman in her thirties was on trauma alert after crashing her car on Paradise Court. Witnesses said she crashed into a road sign on Main Street, ran up on a curb across the street from this location, then up another curb before coming to a rest on Paradise Court. Firefighters had to help extricate her from the car. It is not known at this time what caused her to lose control of her car.
