#Stratford Fishing Ban

#Stratford CT--Earlier this week The Town of Stratford Waterfront and Harbor Management Commission voted to prohibit fishing at the Sea Wall on Beach Drive in Stratford. The vote came after the careful consideration of health and safety concerns in response to numerous complaints of potentially unsafe conditions related to fishing at the Sea Wall. The prohibition of fishing at the Sea Wall is part of an existing Town Ordinance which prohibits fishing “in any recreational area, except at such places and at such times as may be designated by the Town.” Individuals interested in fishing should avoid areas designed for swimming, bathing or pedestrian traffic. #Stratford CT--On 06/29/2018, The Stratford Narcotics Vice and Intel Unit conducted a MV Stop on a Silver KIA Forte in the Honeyspot Motor Lodge. While interviewing the driver, Matthew Prosnick, Detectives observed Narcotics in the vehicle. During a subsequent Search of the vehicle, Detectives discovered a 9mm Taurus containing several rounds of ammunition in the center console along with a ski mask. The Firearm was reported Stolen out of Bridgeport in Oct. 2017. Also discovered during the search of the vehicle were several bundles of Heroin stamped “DOA” as well as loose Heroin, Crack Cocaine and Narcotics Packaging and gloves. #Stratford CT--On 07-04-2018 Daemoni Brice of Stratford was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Manufacture-Distribution-Sales of Prescription Drugs, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in a Drug Factory Setting, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Simple Trespass and Theft of a Firearm. Brice was the passenger in a car and the stolen firearm was under his seat. The recovered firearm, a GLOCK 43 was reported stolen in the state of Georgia. Stratford News: Child Drowns

The Stratford Police investigated a drowning incident on July 2 rd . During the incident a 5 year old child drowned in a pool located in the backyard of the family’s residence on Sunnybank Avenue.. Officers performed CPR on the child who was turned over to responding EMS personnel and transported to a local hospital. The child passed away on July 3 rd . The Stratford Police Department will respect the families privacy no further information will be provided.

Mayor Laura Hoydick and Chief Joseph McNeil and his staff had the pleasure of meeting with descendants of former Officer Edward Manchester who was a member of the Stratford Police Department in the early 20 th century. Officer Manchester was shot in the line of duty trying to apprehend a robbery suspect and later returned to work to finish his career. Stratford News: Attempted Robbery

#Stratford CT--Brant Hufcut age 18 of Milford was arrested following an attempted robbery on Prayer Spring Road. The robbery occurred when Hufcut and an unknown accomplice were at the victim’s residence. At that time Hufcut displayed a handgun and attempted to rob the victim who Hufcut claims owe him money. A scuffle ensued and Hufcut struck the victim several times in the head with the pistol. #Stratford CT--Maureen Boyle,award-winningning journalist, has been a crime reporter in New England for more than 25 years, including at the Standard-Times of New Bedford during this serial murder case. She holds an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn. and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass.
