Stratford News: Ex-Employee Beats/Runs Over Ex Boss
12:02pm--#Stratford CT-- According to police radio, the owner of Paradise Landscape at 395 Chapel Street was allegedly beaten by an ex-employee and the run over by one of his own pickup trucks by that same employee. The truck had GPS and police were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the suspect.
Fatal Crash After Police Pursuit
UPDATE: Police say the Jervon Winston, 22, of Brooklyn, New York was the driver of the car who died in this accident. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Police confirmed our report that he did not negotiate the curve of the ramp, and went straight down an embankment into a tree. UPDATE: A state police accident summary said the 2015 Chrysler 200 involved in the crash is owned by Ari Rent a Car in Linden, N.J. The driver has not been identified. Stratford News: Murder Investigation
On 08-13- 2017 shortly after midnight a shooting occurred on the street in front of 1854 North Avenue. The shooting followed what appeared to be a verbal argument. One 27 year old female victim was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital. A 24 year old male victim is listed as critical as the result of a gun shot wound. The incident is still under investigation and police are trying to identify the shooter(s). The shooting is an isolated incident and there is nor further danger at the scene. North Avenue was closed for several hours as a result of the shooting and subsequent investigation. Stratford News: Police To Wear Body Cameras
After a year of testing and evaluation, the Stratford Police Department has issued body cameras to its patrol force. The cameras are being used during all calls for service. The cameras are another tool to assist officers with investigations. Camera footage will be used during case review, documentation of evidence, recording of statements and keeping a record of day to day interactions between police and the public. The Stratford Police Department is dedicated to providing quality service to the town and its residents. This new technology will aid us in our goal to continually improve service. STRATFORD, CT (July 26, 2017) — Last year, the Stratford Health Department developed a tool to help connect neighborhood food pantries with backyard gardeners wishing to share their excess homegrown produce with neighbors in need. The website - www.townofstratford.com/DonateProduce - allows gardeners who find themselves with excess produce and want to share part of their harvest with others the ability to find information about local pantries along with the days and times donations will be accepted. Additionally, the website offers a list of healthy non-perishable food donation suggestions for those who want to become involved in the movement, but may not garden.
