Computer Crime & Criminal Attempt To Obtained Drugs

#Westport CT--In February, police were dispatched to a local medical office on a report of a fraudulent prescription. The investigating officer learned an employee registered a fictitious patient with the practice and created a prescription in that name. The employee, identified as Melba Witter, later called in a fraudulent prescription to a pharmacy in New York. The prescription was refused and as a result, was not filled. The officer submitted an arrest warrant application for Witter, which was later approved. On 06/29/18, Witter turned herself in at police headquarters on the active arrest warrant. She was charged with 53a-49/21a-108 Criminal Attempt to Illegally Obtain Prescription Legend Drugs and 53a-256 Computer Crime 5 th . Witter was released after posting $10,000…

Westport, CT - Elaine Daignault, Director of the Department of Human Services announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s (formerly known as CTWorks) Career Coach at Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, July 12 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities. The annual PAL fireworks display is set for Monday, July 2, 2018, with a rain date of Tuesday, July 3, 2018. This is a well-attended event that features heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic affecting all roads south of Greens Farms Road between South Compo Road and Hillspoint Road. It is recommended that spectators plan to arrive early as traffic delays are inevitable. The beach should reopen to ticket holders by 5:00 PM, however, this determination will be made by Westport Parks and Recreation staff. Westport News: Multiple Charges

#Westport CT--On 06/22/2018 at approximately 7:00pm, officers were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at Starbucks. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect attempted to go to a second floor storage area. When he was told by employees the area was not for customers, he began screaming at the employees and refused to leave after multiple requests to do so. At one point, he was reported to have lunged over the counter at employees. The suspect left the scene when police were contacted. Officers located the suspect, identified as Carl Nicolas, a short distance away. Nicolas struggled with officers who attempted to detain him. Westport News: Cops Cuff Copper Caper

#Westport CT--On 05/16/18, officers responded to a report of a residential burglary to a home under construction. During the overnight hours, various tools and copper flashing were stolen. Surveillance video at the home captured the suspect making several trips into the construction site and occupied a portion of the home. Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the video as Richard Jamain of Bridgeport, CT. Jamain was also found to have sold copper scrap metal later that morning. An arrest warrant application was submitted for Jamain and approved. On 06/18/18, Jaiman was observed driving in Bridgeport by Westport detectives. Westport News: Man Arrested For Stealing From YMCA Lockers

On 01/29/18, the Westport Police Department received an online report of a larceny from the Westport Weston YMCA. The victim reported that while placing his personal belongings into one of the gym lockers, he observed a suspicious male in the locker room who appeared to be watching him and attempting to see the lock combination. When the victim later returned to the locker, he found the contents disturbed and $80 had been stolen from his wallet. Two similar incidents were reported on 01/30/18 and 01/31/18. On 01/30/18, a victim’s locker was entered and rifled through, but nothing was taken. The victim reported a man being in the locker room that could have seen his locker code.
