WESTPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT’S 2023 BACK TO SCHOOL

SAFETY CAMPAIGN (Westport, CT 8/22/2023) - With the start of Westport’s schools on Tuesday, August 29, the police department will be increasing its traffic enforcement in school zones with a “Back to School” enforcement and education campaign. Officers will be looking out for drivers who are using cell phones, speeding, and disregarding school bus signals. The Westport Police Department is committed to protecting children from motorists who disregard Connecticut’s traffic safety laws, especially around school zones and bus stops where students congregate. We urge commuters to allow for extra time, as they will be sharing the roads with school buses making frequent stops, as well as children who will be walking and/or biking to school. Westport News: Woman Dies In I-95 Crash

Westport News: Woman Dies In I-95 Crash State Police said a woman lost her life in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 95. The woman who passed has been identified as 44-year-old Julia Delva Clarke from Fairfield. The collision happened on the northbound lanes of I-95, just south of exit 18, around 12:30 a.m. The vehicles involved in the crash were a tractor-trailer and a Porsche Macan. According to reports from troopers, the tractor-trailer had come to a stop in the right lane due to heavy traffic conditions. Julia Delva Clarke, who was driving the Porsche, rear-ended the stationary tractor-trailer. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries.…

New York Man Arrested in Westport for Identity Theft and Personal Information Trafficking

On October 4, 2022 Westport Police initiated an investigation after a complainantreported that they had a check fraudulently altered and cashed. The complainant provided thebasic information of the incident, and the case was turned over the Detective Bureau. ThroughLaw Enforcement sharing Westport Detectives were advised that Wilton Police had arrested Mr.Licona in September 2022 for similar financial crimes. At the time of his arrest, a laptop and cellphones were seized. Search warrants were executed on these devices and evidence from ourlarceny case was located on his electronic devices. An arrest warrant was signed and on August3, 2023, Westport Detectives responded to Westchester Correctional Center and arrested Mr.Licona. WESTPORT POLICE INVESTIGATE UNTIMELY DEATH

The Westport Police Detective Bureau, with the assistance of Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime, completed their on-scene investigation last night at approximately 12:45 a.m. The deceased has been positively identified as Jennifer Lindstrom, age 56, of 3 Oak Ridge Park. Westport Police responded to the residence at approximately 11:00 a.m. after a housekeeper arrived and found Ms. Lindstrom unresponsive at the bottom of a staircase leading to the basement. Ms. Lindstrom has been transported from the scene to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. This investigation is still active, and more information will be released as it becomes available. Motorcyclist Dies on I-95

2023-08-05@6:40pm--#Westport, CT--A motorcyclist lost his life after a collision with a car on I-95 northbound between exit 17 and 18. The accident occurred on a Saturday morning when the 35-year-old motorcyclist, Frank Brown of Waterbury, hit the back of the car in front of him. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and, unfortunately, was pronounced dead later on. The occupants of the other car did not sustain any injuries in the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
