Manufacturing Technology Center Opens At Derby High School, Offering Credits At Housatonic Community College

DERBY, Conn. (May 7, 2019)  A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday to officially open a new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center at Derby High School.  A first of its kind in Connecticut, this program not only provides students with an introduction to the advanced manufacturing skillset, it also offers college credits at Housatonic Community College (HCC).   Two years in the making, the program was developed by the Directors of Advanced Manufacturing at Housatonic and Asnuntuck Community College in collaboration with Derby Public Schools. Classes are taught by HCC professors, using equipment primarily funded by the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system. #Stratford CT--As an opportunity for its patrons to clear overdue fines and to assist food drive efforts in the community, the Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford, will offer Food for Fines during the entire month of May. Each non- perishable, non-expired food item is worth $1 of fines. Non- perishable food will be collected for the South End Community Center food pantry. Food items must not be damaged, open or expired. #Trumbull CT--The Trumbull man that died Friday evening following a motor vehicle accident on Daniels Farm Rd., near Heatherfield Dr., has been identified as Eric Gabrielson, age 54, of Oldfield Rd.Trumbull, CT. Gabrielson was driving a Toyota pick-up southerly on Daniels Farm Rd. when itcrossed into the northbound lane and struck the driver’s side of a Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling northerly.
