Bridgeport Leaf Collection Guidelines

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim and the Department of Public Facilities today are reminding residents of the Leaf Collection guidelines that requires residents to place leaves, brush and grass clippings in containers to be ready for pickup on recycling day which occurs bi-weekly.   Leaves should be placed in brown paper leaf bags (like those displayed in photo), garbage cans with no lids, or open top cardboard boxes. In order to be collected, Bridgeport residents MUST have their desired receptacle at the curbside on their day of recycling pickup, as the truck will pass by only once during that week. Fairfield News: Beach Clean Up

The Fairfield Garden Club Conservation Chairs, Jennifer Bargas and Penny Ross, recognize that one of the, if not the, greatest perks of living in Fairfield is being close to Long Island Sound and its beaches. In an effort to honor this natural gift, a beach clean-up was held on Tuesday, November 13th, from 12 to 1:30PM. Almost 18 pounds of trash was collected and cleaned. Using the “Clean Swell’’ app members were able to record every item of trash picked up. The data is uploaded instantaneously to Ocean Conservancy’s global trash database. Bridgeport News: Police Chief Sworn In

#Bridgeport CT-- Bridgeport Police AJ Perez was officially sworn in as the police chief of the state's largest city tonight at City Council Chambers, City Hall, 45 Lyon Terrace.  Perez was the cities acting chief since Mayor Ganim took office.  The city conducted a national search for the next chief with Perez among the top three.  Last week Mayor Ganim announced Perez as the next chief at a press conference, tonight was the official swearing-in ceremony.  The chief was awarded a five-year contract.   Chief Perez said it has been an honor and privilege to serve the city and the good citizens of the city.  He said there many wonderful things coming our way and he is ready to make it…
