Bridgeport firefighters battled heavy flames early this morning on Helen Street after a blaze tore through the second floor of a multi-unit building around 4:00 a.m. One occupant was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with injuries as crews worked for over half an hour to bring the fire under control. The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause, and the Red Cross has been called to assist displaced residents.

Rayo-Mairena’s one year-old daughter was found unharmed on the front porch of a house, several yards from her mother's body. She was left there by a suspect.
