#Bridgeport – Bridgeport Mayor and Democratic candidate for governor Joe Ganim is praising the State Senate for voting to confirm Justice Richard Robinson as chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. The historic vote confirms Robinson as the first African American chief justice in Connecticut state history. The Senate and House both approved the nomination unanimously. Police UPDATE: The deceased was later positively identified through fingerprint examination as Gregory Garoffolo, 60, of Westport, CT. Investigators learned that Garoffolo’s vehicle had been located on the Interstate 95 Saugatuck River overpass during the early morning hours of May 4 th and was subsequently towed by the Connecticut State Police. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, he sustained injuries consistent with a fall and drowning. 8:32pm--#Bridgeport CT-- How about some likes for Samuel Jordon Jr. who jumped out of a second story window barefooted to put out a fire on his front porch?  A call originally went out for a fire in the 300 block of Hanover Street, it turned out to be 2 Lombard Court.  Firefighters said it was a porch fire put out by the homeowner so I figured it couldn't be too big and headed back.  A short time later I hear firefighters saying "all hands working" so I headed back to the scene.  When I pulled up to the scene I saw the assistant chief and I asked if there was a fire or not.  He chuckled and said it was…

Westport News: Fraudulent Checks

#Westport CT--On 04/27/2018 at approximately 3:15pm, officers were dispatched to Bank of America on a report of a two fraudulent checks that had just been passed. While en route to that location, officers were advised the suspect was now at a second Bank of America location in town. Upon arrival there, officers located the suspect exiting the lobby and attempted to detain him. He struggled and broke free only to be taken into custody a moment later with assistance from bank security. Officers learned the suspect attempted to deposit two more fraudulent checks at that location.   The suspect was identified as Wandy Cruz, 18, of Brooklyn, NY.
