Stratford News: KIDS DAY” AT THE STRATFORD FARMERS MARKET IS BACK!

STRATFORD, CT—The Town of Stratford will be hosting its second annual “Kids Day” at the Stratford Farmers Market on Monday, August 28th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Paradise Green in Stratford, CT.

 

This fun-filled back-to-school event provides a variety of healthy activities perfect for the whole family. This event will  feature healthy cooking demonstrations from Cooking Matters,  gardening and nature activities, a chance to moon bounce,  yoga, ukulele lessons, health information, music from  Music Together, touch-a-truck with the Stratford Fire Department, story-time with the Stratford Library, giveaways, and much more!

 

Kid’s Day at the Stratford Farmers Market is part of a larger initiative to increase access to healthy, locally grown foods as a partner with Get Healthy CT Coalition. Get Healthy CT (GHCT), a coalition of businesses and community organizations, including Bridgeport Hospital, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, local health departments and social service agencies, collaborates to prevent and reduce obesity in the greater Bridgeport and New Haven regions.

Westport News: Drug Charges

On April 11, 2017, officers responded to a South Compo Road address on a report of a disturbance. The resident believed the person on their porch, O’Keefe, had come from across the street and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. Officers responded to the other address and located O’Keefe’s friend, Joshua Lindwall who also appeared under the influence of alcohol and narcotics based on his appearance.
Based on the condition of the two men, officers checked the residence to determine if anyone else was under the influence and needed medical attention. While checking the house, numerous bottles of alcohol were observed, as well as several pill bottles containing Hydrocodone and Oxycodone on the dining room table. A bag containing what appeared to be mushrooms was also located. Officers seized 2 grams of marijuana
that tested positive, 14 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms) which tested positive and 3 containers of prescription medications that belonged to the homeowner. An arrest warrant was submitted for O’Keefe.
On 08/18/2017, Ryan O’Keefe turned himself in on an active warrant stemming from this incident. He was charged with 21a-279(b) Possession of a Hallucinogenic drug. O’Keefe was released after posting $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk court on August 24 th . Lindwall was arrested for his involvement in this incident on August 8, 2017.

Bridgeport News: Man Shot

11:31pm–#Bridgeport CT– A man was shot at Stratford Avenue at the intersection of Union Avenue.  The man was transported to the hospital prior to EMS arrival.  Moments before this shots were fired across town at Freemont Street.  Police have located shell casings at both locations and they do NOT match.  No word on the victim’s condition or where on his body he was shot.

 

Police Nab Darien Bank Robber

#Westport CT–On July 2, 2017 at approximately 12:57PM, the Westport Police responded to TD Bank, 1111 Post Road East on a report of an alarm. While en route to the bank, responding officers were advised that a bank robbery had just taken place. The suspect had passed a note to the bank employee telling him a robbery was occurring and he had a gun. Video surveillance showed a 2006-2008 Lincoln MKZ or Lincoln Zephyr enter the parking lot just prior to the robbery and leave right after the suspect exited the bank. Detectives learned the Chase Bank at 454 Post Road had been robbed on June 13th by a suspect matching the same description.

 

Detective Sergeant Sereniti Dobson worked with Darien detectives and determined that both robberies were committed by the same suspect. He was also linked to the robbery of a Citizens Bank in Pawtucket Rhode Island and TD Bank in Waterbury, CT, located at 1254 West Main Street. Darien police identified the suspect as Alpha Jalloh (DOB 6/27/1993) of Bronx, New York. He was believed to have been working with a second male to commit the string of bank robberies. On July 27, 2017, the NYPD Fugitive Task Force initiated a traffic stop on a Lincoln MKZ operated by Jalloh. Due to active arrest warrants that Darien PD and Waterbury PD had obtained earlier in the he was taken into custody. Detective Sergeant Dobson and Detective Rocke responded to New York City and interviewed Jalloh and his passenger, Loang Manpign (DOB 09/02/1992). Jalloh admitted to the robbery and Manpign admitted to driving Jalloh to Westport with the intention of Jalloh committing the robbery  and Manpign driving him back. Jalloh was extradited back to Connecticut to face charges by Darien Police.

 
On 08/21/2017, Jalloh was arrested at Norwalk Superior Court and charged with 53a-135 Robbery 2nd, 53a-48/53a-135 Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 2nd and 53a-124 Larceny 3rd. Jalloh was held on 100,000 dollar cash only bond and will be arraigned today. Charges for his accomplice, Manpign are pending.

Pursuit I-95

UPDATE:  Suspects bailed on Lipton Place and Norwalk, CT Police Department has their K-9 that was in the pursuit.

 

UPDATE: Stamford has taken over the pursuit on Soundview they are now on Jefferson.

 

UPDATE: Norwalk has terminated the pursuit at exit 10 but they picked the pursuit back up on Route 1 in Darien.

 

10:31pm–#Norwalk CT– Norwalk continues with the news tonight with a pursuit on I-95 southbound starting around exit 15 and past exit 10 right now.  The car in pursuit has turned off their lights.

Norwallk News: Store Robbed At Knifepoint

UPDATE: Witnesses say he ran down Main Avenue towards Ward Street.  He has a 30 pack of Coors Light in one hand and the knife in the other.  He then dropped the beer and started running.

 

8:09pm–#Norwalk CT– The World of Beverages at 295 Main Avenue was just robbed at knifepoint according to radio reports.
