March 14, 2017 - On an early Tuesday morning at 1:16 AM the Fairfield Fire Department responded to a nine vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in the area of Exit 19 Northbound involving three tractor trailers. Engine 4, under the command of LT James Shiller and Rescue 1 arrived on scene to find a vehicle with its driver trapped under the box trailer. Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir upon arrival at the scene, assumed Incident Command and special called Engines 1, 2 and Ladder 2 for additional equipment and manpower providing a total of seventeen firefighters for this labor intensive extrication operation. Sanitation/Recycling/Transfer Station Sanitation and recycling pickup has been postponed until further notice. Governor Imposes Travel Ban
HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed an order proclaiming a civil preparedness emergency in the State of Connecticut ahead of the major winter storm that is expected to impact the state on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. With dangerous weather conditions anticipated that will last throughout the day, the Governor has also signed an order activating a statewide travel ban that will begin at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday and remain in effect until further notice. Parking During Snow Storm Stella In Bridgeport
#Bridgeport Connecticut--During the snow emergency, residents must move their cars off posted snow emergency streets. Snow emergency streets are marked with white signs with red lettering. Vehicles left on snow emergency streets or vehicles found not adhering to parking rules after the ban goes into effect will be subject to fines and towing. Even side of the street parking for all other roadways throughout the city in order to allow snow plow drivers’ clear passage.
