Fairfield Receives Over $5 Million for Storm Preparedness

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield has received over $5 million in state grants for the restoration and resiliency of existing infrastructure that was damaged by Storm Sandy. The State has allocated $30 million to a handful of communities that were severely impacted by this devastating Storm. According to a press release issued by Governor Dannel Malloy and Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein, Fairfield is one of 11 municipalities in Connecticut that has received funding to restore a suitable living environment in disaster impacted communities by rehabilitating or reconstructing existing infrastructure and adding resiliency to minimize damage from future storm events. It got more serious the more he ran, especially since he was trying to run police officer off the road. GREAT multi-agency coordination! UPDATE--Pursuit went to Westport and turned around at 18. Now the are in the East Main/Huntington Road area. Radio reports say he is trying to run troopers off the road. Tonight's police pursuit is on I-95 southbound just passed 32. At approximately 7:45 PM on January 5, 2015, an employee from Stop & Shop, located at 1790 Post Road East, encountered a male suspect attempting to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. Once the bill was determined to be counterfeit the suspect left the store in a vehicle and proceeded to the Walgreens located at 1870 Post Road East. The Stop & Shop employee contacted police and provided a description for responding police units. Officers located and detained 3 suspects that were engaged in passing counterfeit bills in the Walgreens parking lot without incident. It was determined that both Anthony Canales and Leslie Canales entered Walgreens to make a purchase with counterfeit bills while Jada Robles operated the vehicle that was parked outside. #cttraffic--#MTA--#Norwalk Ct--#Bridgeport CT--UPDATE--IN CUSTODY on Marshall Street--- A suspect wanted for a domestic fight in Bridgeport, possibly with a gun led Bridgeport Police on a pursuit starting on Route 8/25 southbound then onto I-95 southbound. The pursuit went down I-95 southbound until exit 16 and the suspect the fled on foot on Van Zant Street near the railroad tracks. K-9 from Norwalk will join the search.
