Construction Begins on Police Memorial Honoring Fallen Officers
(Bridgeport, CT – March 12, 2014) – The city broke ground this week on a memorial to honor the 12 Bridgeport police officers who died in the line of duty. “This is an inherently dangerous job,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr., “and it is so important to honor and remember the people who gave their lives protecting our citizens. But it is more than that. This memorial is for their families. This will be for our past, current and future officers. Officers work so hard every day. Woman Arrested After Assault
(Bridgeport, CT – March 11, 2014) – A 22-year-old woman faces an assault charge after a dispute. Officer Dave Rivera was dispatched to 1295 Howard Ave. on a report of an assault and spoke to a victim who stated she was helping her in-laws clean an apartment that they were renting. She stated she had moved some belongings of the previous tenants to the porch so they could clean and an argument started when the previous tenants arrived to pick up their belongings. A verbal argument turned into a physical confrontation. According to the victims, the assailants allegedly were armed with a screw driver, a hammer and a two-by-four and assaulted the two women, a mother and daughter. The suspects…
