CTDOT Receives $11.4 Million Federal Grant to Replace Diesel Buses with Efficient Battery Electric Buses

(Newington, Conn.) – The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced it received a $11.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to fund 22 new battery electric public transportation buses. The state-of-the-art buses will replace diesel-operated buses.  “Residents deserve clean air and clean transportation. Incorporating electric buses into the fleet moves operations away from a dependence on fossil fuels, reduces air pollution caused by diesel combustion, and results in significant maintenance and repair savings over the life of the vehicle,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Joseph Giulietti. “Battery electric buses will transform the state and improve environmental equity. ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG ANNOUNCES SETTLEMENTS WITH FOUR OVER-THE-COUNTER HEARING AID COMPANIES

(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong announced today four separate settlements with over-the-counter hearing aid companies Lively Hearing Corporation, Widex USA, Inc., Hark Wellness, Inc., and Wonder Ear, Inc. who marketed their products as “FDA-approved” despite no such approval. Hearing aids currently do not require, and do not receive approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. While hearing aid manufacturers register their products with the FDA, hearing aids do not currently undergo pre-market approval the way new drugs and some medical devices do.  Although Congress enacted legislation in 2017 permitting the FDA to create a category of over-the-counter hearing aids, the FDA has not yet issued a final rule and no hearing aid suppliers should be marketing their products as “FDA-approved.” The…

Bridgeport News: Assault

2022-03-14@11:37pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A person was assaulted on Seaview Avenue at Ogden Street Extension. I was able to drive from Fairfield to the scene and the short-staffed Bridgeport Police Department was not on scene. There was a topless man with a baseball bat over his shoulder as seen in the dashcam photo. I was able to drive back to Fairfield when EMS was allowed to enter the scene (at least half an hour round trip). Currently, the department is short-staffed by over 110 officers and is expected to be short of 150 officers by summer. At best they will have 30 graduate from the academy.

The fire that was on the porch began to extend to the eves of the attic. The townhouses share a common roof/attic line which could have extended to the other homes. Right afterwards, firefighters used this as training for both rookies and veterans.
