Bridgeport News: Mike’s Deli Robbery

On January 10, 2023, at approximately 12:20 am, a suspect entered Mike’s Deli located at 2808 Fairfield Avenue, motioned as if he had a firearm, and took cash from the business. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hat, blue jacket with black sleeves, tan khaki pants, and tan boots. The suspect left the store walking eastbound on Fairfield Avenue.

The Bridgeport Police Department (B.P.D.) Detective Bureau is requesting assistance from the public in identifying this robbery suspect. Please review the attached photographs taken from video surveillance.

Bridgeport CT–Yuery’s Market Robbery

#Bridgeport CT– On January 22, 2023, at approximately 6:30 pm, two suspects entered Yuery’s Market located at 1141 East Main Street, brandished a firearm, and took cash from the business. The suspect armed with the handgun is described as a Black male wearing a black mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and blue medical gloves. The second suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black & white shirt, black pants, black jacket, and a black facemask. Both suspects were last seen fleeing the area on foot headed westbound on Jane Street.

The Bridgeport Police Department (B.P.D.) Detective Bureau is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the robbery suspects. Please review the attached photographs taken from video surveillance.

Bridgeport News: Police Investigate Stabbing

2023-01-29@9:51pm–#Bridgeport CT–Saturday night Bridgeport Police received multiple calls regarding a brawl at Don Raphael Restaurant located at 256 Oak Street. When they arrived they found no dispute but they did find a stab-wound victim. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Police are investigating.

Bridgeport News: 5 Car Crash With Fire

2023-01-12@11:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– #ctfire— Firefighters were called for a multi-car crash on Barnum Avenue near East Avenue. Police were first on the scene and they told the firefighters that two cars were on fire which they quickly extinguished. The occupants of the black sedan facing the wrong way in the video fled the scene. There were no reported injuries. A total of five cars were involved.

Bridgeport News: Fatal Accident Investigated

#Bridgeport CT– On January 20, 2023, at approximately 1827 hours the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received several calls for a motor vehicle accident with injuries, and parties are now arguing. A female caller stated a female operator involved in the accident is trapped in her vehicle and going into cardiac arrest. A second caller stated the parties are still arguing on the scene.

American Medical Response, Bridgeport Fire E3/E4, and the Bridgeport Police were dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, an officer stated, he observed six vehicles with damage. He also observed AMR giving medical assistance to an unresponsive elderly female and two young males from a separate vehicle. The elderly female and the two young males were transported to Bridgeport Hospital. The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team was notified and responded to the scene.

The elderly female succumbed to her injuries, moments after arriving at Bridgeport Hospital. The elderly female was identified as, 74-year-old Gladys Andrade of Bridgeport, Ct. The Next of Kin was notified by Bridgeport Hospital’s Staff and The Bridgeport Police Department. The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Gladys Andrade’s family and friends.

The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team reconstructed the scene and obtained video of the serious crash.

A silver 2014 Nissan Pathfinder bearing Ct. registration AL99149, being operated by 22-year-old Yuri Barral of Bridgeport, Ct. was traveling west on Linen Ave. and crashed into the rear of a gray 2022 Honda CRV, bearing Ct. registration BH23653, being operated by 74-year-old Gladys Andrade.

The impact pushed, the 2022 Honda CRV into an oncoming silver 2015 Dodge Charger bearing Ct. registration AX69722, being operated by 27-year-old Brandon Viera of Bridgeport, Ct., and several parked vehicles.

The Police Serious Crash Team is continually conducting interviews for the crash. The Fatal Crash was assigned to Officer E. Quiles. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer E. Quiles at 475-422-6141 or utilize the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.

Bridgeport News: Warrant Arrests

#Bridgeport CT– On January 19, 2023, at around 10 pm, the Bridgeport Police Department’s Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) executed a search warrant at a residence on Shelton Street as part of a narcotics investigation. With the assistance of the Patrol Division, they detained three adults, Colon, Maldonado, and Nieves, and found packaged crack cocaine and money in plain view. They also found a firearm with no valid CT pistol permit in Nieves’ possession. TNT entered the main dwelling and detained an adult female, Rodriguez, and a large dog. They also found a door leading to the basement area which was obstructed by furniture and three large bags containing a white powdery substance. They located an adult male, Reyes, and one juvenile hiding behind the drywall in the basement. TNT found a large amount of packaged cocaine, fentanyl mix capsules, and boxes of new and unused wax paper folds, along with over $9,000.00 in U.S. currency. They also found a loaded firearm and ammunition in a safe in Rodriguez’s bedroom, as well as three additional firearms inside the house near the front door. Two of these firearms were semi-automatic, one of which was stolen from Milford CT. One was an unloaded revolver.The total number of firearms recovered was five (5).

Bridgeport News: Homicide Arrest

#Bridgeport News: On Wednesday night, January 11, 2023, officers responded to 804 Fairfield Avenue for an assault. When they arrived, they found the victim, 49-year-old Daniel Engeldrum, suffering from a head injury. Endgeldrum, who was homeless, was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries two days later, on January 13, 2023. A subsequent autopsy confirmed his death was due to the assault and ruled a homicide. Detective Brian Coyne of the Homicide Unit was assigned the case and was assisted by the other members of the unit. A local man, 32-year-old Elijah Humphrey of 944 Fairfield Avenue, was quickly developed as a suspect, and during questioning, confessed.

Humphrey was arrested today and charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree and Intimidation Due to Bias in the First Degree. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.

Bridgeport News: Pedestrian Killed

Police UPDATE: On January 17, 2023, at approximately 1044 hours, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a phone call stating a pedestrian was struck by a dark green Toyota Camry, bearing Connecticut Classic registration 00SHRD, at the Intersection of East Main Street and Pulaski Street. The witness stated the pedestrian was bleeding from injuries sustained from the collision, and a dark green Toyota Camry drove away from the scene.  

American Medical Response, Bridgeport Fire Engine E1, and the Bridgeport Police were dispatched to said location. Upon arrival, officers observed the pedestrian lying in the roadway at East Main Street and Pulaski Street unresponsive. The pedestrian received medical attention from AMR, and he was transported to Bridgeport Hospital. The pedestrian was later identified as 52-year-old Rafael, Davila from Bridgeport.  

The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team was notified and responded to the crash scene. The scene was reconstructed, and video was obtained. A short time later, the Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team was notified that Rafael Davila succumbed to his injuries at Bridgeport Hospital.

The next of kin was notified, and The Bridgeport Police Department sends our thoughts and prayers to Rafael Davila’s family and friends.  

The dark green Toyota Camry, bearing Connecticut Classic registration 00SHRD was located and towed to the Bridgeport Police Departments Traffic Division.
