#Bridgeport, Conn. (Dec. 22, 2014) – Detectives are investigating an apparent double shooting that occurred this morning at about 10 a.m.

Police responded to a report of gunshots on Highland Avenue. Responding officers located one gunshot victim, who was wounded in the lower abdomen. He was placed in a squad car and transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center. He has been identified as Russell Gillchrist, 17, of Bridgeport.

A short time later, a second gunshot victim was taken by private vehicle to Bridgeport Hospital. He was identified as Terence Gallimore, 24, also of Bridgeport.

Witnesses reported hearing between 6 and 10 gunshots in the area.

Gallimore told police that he was shot at a different location but police received no reports of gunfire in that area.

At this time, detectives are reviewing statements from the victims and witnesses and evidence recovered at the scene.

“We’re exploring all options,” said Lt. Christopher LaMaine. “The investigation is in its early stages.”

Both victims suffered serious injuries and are expected to survive.
