Bridgeport Police UPDATE:

The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Investigation Team was called out to investigate a car vs pedestrian hit and run collision that occurred at Boston Ave and Mill Hill Ave at approximately 4:11 pm.

David P. Haddon, 80, 0f Bridgeport was crossing Boston Ave at Mill Hill Ave when he was struck by a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling west on Boston Ave.  The operator did not stop after striking Mr. Haddon.  He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with severe head trauma and cervical spine trauma.  He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:31pm.

A witness provided the license plate number and description of the striking vehicle and members of the Patrol Division apprehended the car off exit 26 of I-95 S. The operator failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Misconduct with a Motor Vehicle 53a-57, Evading Responsibility 14-224 (b), Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 14-227a, Engaging Police In Pursuit 14-223 (b) and No Insurance 14-213b.  She is identified as Ayanna Woodward, 39, of Bridgeport.

Team members Lt Thomas Minar, Officer Michael Falbo and Officer John Perry were the investigating officers.

4:33pm–#Bridgeport CT– The westbound lanes of Boston Avenue are closed for an investigation of a pedestrian being hit near Mill Hill Avenue.  The driver fled the scene.  Possible fatal accident so expect the lane to be closed for a an extended period of time while police investigate.
