Fairfield News: Statewide Flu Vaccination Day

#FAIRFIELD, Connecticut  – The Fairfield Health Department will be participating in Statewide Flu Vaccination Day and are urging all Fairfield residents to get a flu shot and be a Kung Flu Fighter. As flu season starts to peak here in CT, the single best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to get vaccinated. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over the age of 6 months. UPDATE: The car was impounded by Bridgeport Police. Norwalk News: Charges After Pursuit

#Norwalk CT--On January 23, 2018, at 1:26 am, an officer from the Patrol Division observed a vehicle travelling on Water Street with significant front-end damage. Just prior to the officer’s observation an evading accident had been reported in South Norwalk. Suspecting this was the evading vehicle, the officer attempted a motor vehicle stop on the Stroffolino Bridge however, the operator refused to pull over. The vehicle accelerated away before pulling to a stop in the driveway of 35 Fort Point Street. The operator then fled on foot and a short foot pursuit ensued. The officer tackled the operator to the ground, where the suspect actively resisted arrest. Officers were able to subdue the suspect and take him into custody. Officers found…

Bridgeport News: Man Arrest For Sexual Assault & Impersonating A Cop

Jorge Santiago, 43, of 26 Eighth Street, Derby, Connecticut, was arrested on a warrant constructed.  The arrest warrant charged Santiago with Aggravated Sexual Assault in the First Degree 53a-70a, Threatening in the First Degree 53a-61aa and Impersonation of a Police Officer 53a-130a, stemming from a June 13, 2017, incident where Santiago, who was in possession of a police type radio, law enforcement badge and firearm, impersonated himself as Bridgeport Police Officer and sexually assaulted a young lady in the abandoned garage of 55 Park Street.  Santiago's bond was court set at $500,000.00.

Westport News: Compactor Fire

UPDATE:  Due to a recent fire in the compactor unit at the Westport Transfer Station, Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich is reminding all residents that spent ashes are to be disposed of in the clearly marked special ash bin available at the station.  Ashes should never be dumped in to the trash compactor.
