California Man Running Across America to Help Firefighters with Cancer

The Bridgeport Firefighters IAFF Local 834 is pleased to welcome Matt Gregg, a retired Apple executive who is running across the country to bring further attention to the associated higher cancer rates in firefighters. Matt will be running through Bridgeport on Friday, July 19th, beginning at approximately 2:00 PM with the run ending at approximately 3:00 PM. He will be greeted by several local dignitaries at this time at Bridgeport Fire Headquarters, 30 Congress St., Bridgeport, Ct 06604 His tentative route into Bridgeport will begin north from Fairfield on Fairfield Avenue to State Street, to Water Street to Fire Headquarters. Fairfield-Bridgeport News: People Trapped In Car With Live Wire

Fairfield Police UPDATE: On 07/17/2019 at approximately 5:16pm Fairfield Emergency Communications received a report of a large tree limb landing on a vehicle injuring the driver in front of 3595 Park Avenue, Fairfield. Officers responded to find Jarrod Marotto, DOB 08/26/1997 of Southington, unconscious in the driver seat. Jarrod was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Further investigation revealed that Jarrod was driving southbound on Park Avenue when a large limb from a Cottonwood tree was struck by lightning and fell striking the vehicle and Jarrod on the driver side. Bridgeport News: Crash!

2019-07-17 @ 11:55pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Multiple witness told me that the white Audi was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the red Hyundai on Fairfield Avenue near Clinton Avenue. One witness showed me video on his phone of the suspect fleeing the scene.  Police caught up with him and arrested him.  Two people had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department.  It took almost a half hour to get them out of the vehicle.  EMS transported them to the hospital.

Wesptport News: Undocumented Document

#Westport CT--On Saturday July 6, 2019 officers responded to Webster Bank located at 244 Post Road East on a complaint of a female at that location attempting to cash what staff recognized as a fraudulent check. Upon arrival bank employees pointed out the customer in question to the responding officers. Staff explained that they had been alerted to recent fraudulent activity associated with this account by another bank branch and recognized the check being presented by the customer as a fake. Bank staff pointed out to officers that one of the digits listed on the account number of the check did not match the number assigned to their actual customer’s account, thereby confirming that the check was not authentic. Stratford’s Blues On The Beach

STRATFORD – Stratford is set for its annual “Blues on the Beach” summer music festival, which has become an increasingly popular summer ritual for the coastal town. The event will take place at Short Beach on Saturday, July 20th, from 12:00 pm-9:30 pm.  Blues is part of the Stratford Celebrate Festivals and is run by volunteer, Erin McLaughlin.   “Erin and her team do an amazing job of organizing the bands, stage, and vendors.
