Murphy Wants Bill To Accommodate Students From Puerto Rico

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) this week introduced the ELEVATE Act (S.2761), bicameral legislation that will ensure states receive the federal funding necessary to provide high-quality instruction to students learning English. Specifically this legislation will correct a flawed funding formula the U.S. Department of Education uses to allocate funds to states by fully capturing the number of K-12 students who relocate to the mainland from Puerto Rico. This bill would allow Puerto Rican students to be fully counted in the annual grant allocation that states receive under the English Language Acquisition grant program. Trumbull News: Trumbull PD Charge Waterbury Man On Robbing Elderly Woman

#Trumbull CT-- Trumbull Police detectives charged a Waterbury man for robbing an elderly woman at the Westfield Trumbull Mall in August and stealing her car. Jordan Savage, age 25, of Waterbury, was apprehended when he was stopped by Watertown Police on Friday night and was arrested without incident after they learned of the active warrant for his arrest out of Trumbull. He was transported to Trumbull Police Headquarters where he was processed on numerous charges. After an extensive investigation, Trumbull Police detectives had identified Savage through a series of related crimes and an additional stolen vehicle from locations in Connecticut and New York State. Milford News: Crash!

2019-11-03 @9:30am--#Milford CT--A vehicle with 2 elderly occupants swerved, hit another car, rolled and flipped onto its roof and struck a nearby bank on Cherry Street.  The swerve and subsequent accident possibly could have been caused by a medical situation.   Both elderly occupants were seriously injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle that was on it's roof.hey were taken to a local hospital.   They are in stable condition as of 4 PM this afternoon.  The bank that they struck only had minor superficial damage done to it.  The other vehicle involved had 2 people inside.
