The City of Bridgeport Department of Public Facilities Announces East Washington Avenue Bridge Deck Rehabilitation

Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Public Facilities Department has announced that construction will begin for the East Washington Avenue Bridge Deck on September 5, 2024. The bridge was previously fixed in place by the City making the bridge inoperable after the water channel below the bridge was deemed non-navigable by the US Coast Guard. The scope of the project is to only repair the concrete decking portion of the bridge while removing one inch of the existing deck. The project will also consist of the installation of a waterproofing membrane and pave one inch of high-strength asphalt, approved by the Department of Transportation. The project is expected to take 2-3 weeks, weather dependent, with a project end date of September 26, 2024.…

Stratford Spa Raided: Two Arrested, Cease-and-Desist Order Issued

The Stratford Police Department’s Narcotics, Vice, and Intelligence Unit recently conducted an investigation into activities at The Garden Spa, located at 1804 Barnum Avenue in Stratford. Following the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the spa on August 29, 2024. Yushan Li, 62, and Shun Yu Quan, 61, were taken into custody and charged with prostitution. Both women were released on a $10,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on September 12, 2024. During the operation, $10,223 in cash, cell phones, and various financial documents were seized as evidence. Additionally, the Stratford Health Department has issued a Cease-and-Desist Order, which has been posted at the entrance of the establishment.

Norwalk Man Charged with Larceny for Copper Theft at Multiple Locations

On both July 18, 2024, and July 22, 2024, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received reports of several copper plumbing fixtures stolen from Yankee Doodle and North Water Parking Garage. Detectives processed both crime scenes and obtained video footage from the surrounding areas. Through their investigations, they identified the suspect in both incidents as Johnathan Williamson, a 34-year-old resident of Stamford. Arrest warrants were obtained, and on August 28, 2024, Williamson, who was already in custody for similar charges, was brought to Stamford Court, where he was charged with Larceny in the Fifth Degree and Larceny in the Sixth Degree. His bond was set at $25,000 for the July 18 incident and an additional $25,000 for the July 22 incident.

On 08/28/2024 at approximately 11:39 AM, a Trooper assigned to Troop G in Bridgeport responded to I-95 Southbound in the area of Exit 17 in Westport for a disabled tractor trailer in a hazardous location in the median portion of the highway.   Prior to reaching the tractor trailer, the trooper was advised that the tractor trailer operator was observed leaving the scene on an electric scooter, crossed the three travel lanes of the highway, and was last seen driving the electric scooter southbound in the right shoulder.   Upon locating the tractor trailer operator, the Trooper activated their emergency lights and siren and the operator of the scooter complied and came to a stop in the right shoulder. Organized Retail Theft Suspects Arrested at Milford Marshalls; Over $2,000 in Stolen Merchandise Recovered

On August 27th, 2024, Milford Police received information that individuals from an organized retail theft group were believed to be at the Marshalls located at 1413 Boston Post Road. Officers made contact with Marshalls' loss prevention employees via phone, who relayed that they had been investigating an organized retail theft group driving a black Honda CRV. This group had been suspects in numerous thefts from Marshalls, Burlington, and TJX stores across New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Two Suspects Arrested in Early Morning Burglary at Bridgeport Roofing Supply; Stolen Vehicle Recovered

On August 29, 2024, at approximately 2:57 AM, Bridgeport Police patrol units responded to a reported burglary in progress at Beacon Roofing Supply on 1730 Commerce Drive. The alarm company, Comp Tech - Logic Communications, reported that three suspects—two males and one female—were actively attempting to steal materials from the property. Video surveillance showed the suspects passing items over a fence. Upon arrival, patrol units observed the suspects trying to secure stolen items in the back seat of a grey 2012 Hyundai Elantra, later determined to be stolen from Bridgeport on August 26, 2024. Bridgeport News: Driver Arrested After Police Find Marijuana, Ghost Gun During Traffic Stop

On August 29, 2024, officers stopped a vehicle at State Street and West Avenue due to an equipment issue. They found that the driver, Brian Figueiredo Silva, was operating the vehicle with an expired license. During the vehicle inspection, officers discovered a significant amount of marijuana, THC cartridges, and a firearm with an extended magazine. The firearm had no serial number, commonly referred to as a ghost gun. Silva was already subject to a protective order that prohibited him from owning or possessing a firearm, and he did not have a pistol permit.
