Stratford Public Schools Awarded Grant Money to Improve Student Mental Health Services

HARTFORD, CT - Connecticut Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford), State Representative Ben McGorty (R-122), and State Representative Laura Dancho (R-120) commend the State of Connecticut and the Connecticut Department of Education for awarding School Mental Health Specialist Grants to 72 districts across Connecticut. Stratford Public Schools is one of the recipients of the grant, which provides funding to increase the number of mental health workers in schools. TOWN OF STRATFORD INITIATES COOLING CENTER PROTOCOL 

STRATFORD, CT – Due to receiving an Extreme Warm Weather Advisory notice from the State of Connecticut, the Town of Stratford has initiated its Cooling Center protocol. This protocol is enacted from 8AM Wednesday, July 26th, to 8AM Sunday, July 30th. Mayor Hoydick is advising residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, to take precautions ahead of the extreme temperatures that are forecast to impact over the next several days.  For Overnight and long-term sheltering residents need to contact the 221 System by dialing 211. Ruben Sandwiches At Crown Cafe

Today we stopped by Crown Cafe, at 2200 Madison Ave, again, and I had to try their version of one of my favorites, a Ruben and they did not disappoint! The rye bread was lightly toasted on the flat top stove, along with the sauerkraut and an entire half-pound of pastrami, the sandwich comes together with melted Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing, and man does it come together. The savoriness of the pastrami contrasts nicely with the sauerkraut, and the Thousand Island does a good job at bringing these two flavors together. Two Men Arrested in Armed Street Robbery

  (Bridgeport, CT – July 1, 2014) – Two city men face charged in connection with an armed street robbery that occurred Thursday. According to Detective Art Calvao, the robbery happened near the intersection of Reservoir and Woodrow avenues. The victim had been assaulted, threatened with a firearm and robbed of his cell phone and cash. Through this investigation by detectives, two suspects were identified and detectives set up surveillance at their residence on 218 Douglas St. Monday. One of the suspects, Robert Stovall, 25, came out of this location and entered a vehicle that pulled up in front of the house. The car then drove off. With the assistance of Sgt.
