Bridgeport Police UPDATE: At 0528hrs the Bridgeport ECC received a 911 call from the owner of Vazzy’s Restaurant on Broadbridge Road indicating two males approached a worker and forced her into the store to burglarize it. BPD arrived on-scene shortly after to investigate the incident. Responsible parties are reported to be two black males, weapons were displayed. Both parties fled in an unknown direction. No injuries reported. This is an active investigation. #Bridgeport CT--The Bridgeport Police received a 911 call at 0909hrs on a preliminary report of a burglary in progress I the 600th block of Brooks St. BPD units were dispatched and on-scene reports indicated a home invasion took place with a woman and her two children home. The male parties displayed a firearm and fled the residence with the female’s cellphone. AMR was dispatched to the scene for evaluation of any injuries. This is an active investigation at this time. On January 10, 2023, at approximately 12:20 am, a suspect entered Mike’s Deli located at 2808 Fairfield Avenue, motioned as if he had a firearm, and took cash from the business. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hat, blue jacket with black sleeves, tan khaki pants, and tan boots. The suspect left the store walking eastbound on Fairfield Avenue. The Bridgeport Police Department (B.P.D.) Detective Bureau is requesting assistance from the public in identifying this robbery suspect. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) will join advocates to announce significant federal funding increases for both the Supplemental Nutritional Insurance Program (SNAP) and child nutrition programs, which include school meal programs, as growing numbers of Connecticut families face food insecurity this winter. The federal budget includes $154 billion for SNAP, an increase of $13.4 billion over last year, $28.5 billion for Child Nutrition Programs including historic funding allowing schools to serve healthy meals, and $6 billion for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
