2023-01-19@11:30PMish– A witness who was one of the first on the scene said there were multiple gunshots and a man was hit multiple times on Priscilla Lane. The man’s condition is not known at this time. He also told me that the shooter is still at large.

Ansonia News: Man Hides In Back Seat To Rob Woman
#Ansonia CT–On January 17, 2023 at about 10:15 P.M., Ansonia Police officers patrolling Pershing Drive were flagged down by a female who reported a male hid in the backseat of her car then tried to steal her pocketbook. The female was able to fight off the suspect and he fled the scene. The female reported she had stopped at CVS on Pershing Drive, while she was in the store the male hid in the backseat of the car and confronted her as she drove on Pershing Drive. Officer Smith and his K9 partner Kane tracked the suspect to Howard Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as Adiel Viana-Ribeiro, age 25 of Bridgeport. Viana-Ribeiro was charged with Burglary Third Degree, Criminal Attempt at Robbery Third Degree, Criminal Attempt at Larceny Second Degree and Breach of Peace. He was held on a $50,000.00 bond and arraigned at Derby Superior Court today, January 18, 2023.

Bridgeport News: Homicide Arrest
#Bridgeport News: On Wednesday night, January 11, 2023, officers responded to 804 Fairfield Avenue for an assault. When they arrived, they found the victim, 49-year-old Daniel Engeldrum, suffering from a head injury. Endgeldrum, who was homeless, was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries two days later, on January 13, 2023. A subsequent autopsy confirmed his death was due to the assault and ruled a homicide. Detective Brian Coyne of the Homicide Unit was assigned the case and was assisted by the other members of the unit. A local man, 32-year-old Elijah Humphrey of 944 Fairfield Avenue, was quickly developed as a suspect, and during questioning, confessed.
Humphrey was arrested today and charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree and Intimidation Due to Bias in the First Degree. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.

Westport News: Criminal Mischief
On December 21 st , 2022 Westport Police initiated an investigation after a complaint was made
regarding damage caused to landscaping at a property owned by the Westport Housing Authority.
The complainant provided video surveillance of the alleged suspect driving over grass areas of
the property causing significant damage. Through the surveillance footage, the investigating
officer identified the alleged suspect as James Doyle. The officer applied for and was granted a
warrant charging Mr. Doyle with the above crime. On January 13 th , 2023, the investigating
officer witnessed Mr. Doyle driving his vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Mr. Doyle was
arrested and transported to Westport Police Department where he was processed. Mr. Doyle was
released on court set bond of $2500 with a court date of January 23 rd , 2023 at Stamford Superior
Court.
Westport News: Fight With PD
#Westport CT—On October 28 th 2021, Officers responded to the area of Center St on a report of an individual, later identified as Cameron Baker, acting erratically and drinking motor oil. Responding officers located Mr. Baker walking in the middle of Center St and attempted to engage him in conversation. Mr. Baker was actively drinking a liquid, later identified as liquid fuel additive and yelling at officers. Officers began to follow Mr. Baker down Center St when he began to run while continuing to drink this liquid. Officers caught up with Mr. Baker where he immediately began to fight with officers. While fighting with the officers, he punched them in their heads causing one officer to fall to the ground and break his wrist. Throughout the fight, officers repeatedly gave verbal commands to stop fighting and to comply. Mr. Baker referred to officers with derogatory names and made threatening statements concerning officers and their families.
Mr. Baker was eventually subdued and ultimately sent to Norwalk Hospital. Warrants were applied for and granted charging him with the above referenced crimes. Mr. Baker was unable to turn himself in until he did on January 17 th when he was charged and released on a $50,000 court set bond with a court date of January 26 th , 2023.

#Westport News: Unannounced Tobacco and Electronic cigarette Compliance Inspection Results
#Westport, CT– On Wednesday January 18, 2023, the Westport Police Department working with the
State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) Tobacco
Prevention and Enforcement Program (TPEP) conducted unannounced compliance inspections of
establishments that sell tobacco products and/or electronic cigarettes. The inspections were
performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale
of e-cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of 21.
Retailers are required by state law to inspect the photo ID of anyone who appears under the age of
30 before selling a tobacco product or electronic cigarette. Free online training is available to
anyone who would like to learn more at: www.cttobaccotraining.com .
A total of 5 unannounced compliance inspections were conducted. Of this total, 0 (zero),
establishments were found non-compliant with Connecticut General Statutes 53-344 (Sale of
tobacco to a person under 21) or Section 53-344b (Sale of an e-cigarette to a person under 21).

Tobacco retailers are licensed by the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS). Non-

State Police UPDATE: State police said State Police say the woman, later identified as Joan Marie Forgas, 32, of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Forgas was struck and killed by a car in the northbound lane near Exit 13 after leaving her Jeep, which was parked in between the right lane and shoulder of the roadway.

Trumbull News: Brawl At The Mall Formerly Known As Westfield Mall
#Trumbull CT–On Monday evening, January 16, 2023, Trumbull Police arrested a teenager after he was found to be carrying a hatchet and intimidating other youths inside of the Trumbull Mall. A fifteen (15) year old male from Bridgeport, was arrested and charged for his involvement in this incident. At approximately 7:00 p.m., as officers were working a security detail at the Trumbull Mall, due to a recent uptick in disturbances that have occurred, they were approached by a patron who pointed to a group of juveniles that were in the food court area. The patron advised officers that one of the juveniles was threatening others and he was holding an ax, which was later found to be a hatchet. Several juveniles were then observed running out of the mall into the parking lot near the food court area. The group of juveniles pointed to the lone male juvenile who was standing in the parking lot near Macy’s, and indicated that he had an ax or a machete in his possession. Officers then apprehended the suspect near the bus stop and found he was carrying a hatchet with a yellow and black handle concealed in his waistband. He was taken into custody without any further incident. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. The fifteen (15) year old male was arrested and brought to the Trumbull Police Headquarters where he was processed and criminally charged with Breach of Peace and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
