2022-06-22 #Bridgpeport CT– This evening, Amheir Noel (DOB: 7/15/02 of P.T. Barnum Housing Complex, building #6, apt #208) was arrested for fatally shooting Kyle Dear in the P.T. Barnum Housing Complex on June 13th. Noel had been arrested by our gang task force earlier today on unrelated charges in the town of Milford. During a post-arrest interview, Noel admitted to shooting Dear. The murder was said to be in response to Dear’s friends robbing and pistol-whipping Noel.
Noel is charged with Murder and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit. He is being held on a $2,500,000 bond and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.
This was outstanding work by the lead investigator, Detective Thomas Harper, and all the detectives that worked on the case. A particular thanks to Lieutenants Amato and Andrews and everyone in the gang unit for their assistance.

Bridgeport Police Not Requiring College Degree For New Chief
Davon Polite, president of the Bridgeport Guardians INC said in a press release:
“We teach our kids that by continuing education you will have greater opportunities in life. The Bridgeport Guardians are appalled by the recent statements of not requiring a college degree for Police Chief Candidates.
Most Police departments across the nation mandate requirements at the very least a Police Chief Candidate to have a Bachelor’s degree and prefer a Masters or doctorate..
This is the most prestigious title candidates can apply for and its suppose to be a competitive process highlighting the qualifications of each candidate therefore selecting the most qualified.

Bridgeport Police Force Now At 299 Of A Force of 425
#Bridgeport CT–Officer Omar Jiminez retired last week after 14 years of service. This brings the police force down to 299 officers from a full force of 425 officer. There are only 12 officers expected to graduate from the academy soon. Additional officers will be retiring as well as more officers going to Hamden in the next few days. Officer Omar Jiminez has been operating the Urban Taqo food truck and going full time with it along with his son.

Bridgeport News: Scooter Crash
2022-06-15@5:47pm–#Bridgeport CT– First responders were originally dispatched to Berkshire and Kossuth Street for a pedestrian struck. EMS reported on the radio they had two people involved in a scooter crash and one person had traumatic injuries. I found the scooter and parts at Stillman and Kossuth Street. Witnesses said they saw a red pick up truck speeding up and down Kossuth Street when the collision occurred. The striking vehicle fled the scene. Police believed they located the vehicle on Washington Terrace. Family members are saying on social media that the person in critical condition is fighting for his life.

Park City Renters of State Rebate Program
Bridgeport, CT— The City of Bridgeport Department of Health and Social Services reminds Park City residents that Connecticut tenants who rent an apartment, a room, or live in communal housing and are age 65 years or older, or permanently disabled may apply to receive a Renters’ Rebate of up to $700 for individuals or up to $900 for married couples.
Applications for the Renters’ Rebate tax relief program will be accepted through September 30th, 2022, for reimbursement on the 2021 filing period. The State of Connecticut Rebate Program has outlined qualifying criteria which includes an annual income of up to $38,100 for individuals or $46,400 for married couples. Qualifying persons may apply at the Eisenhower Senior Center at 307 Golden Hill Street, (203) 576-7993, or the North Bethany Senior Center at 20 Thorme Street, (203) 576-7730. Additional information with an outline of the State Renters’ Rebate Program criteria attached.
“The daily cost of living has increased across the nation and our state on common household goods, groceries, and essential utilities. These monthly bills can be particularly challenging for seniors and disabled persons that are on a fixed income,” stated Mayor Ganim. “I want to remind Bridgeport residents of this program so that they can apply – for what is most likely a much needed $700 or $900 check. It’s money that is available to assist with living expenses.”

#Bridgeport CT– Bridgeport Police identified Monday night’s homicide at PT Barnum Housing as 22-year-old Kyle Dear from Shelton.

On June 13, 2022 at approximately 8:30 pm, Bridgeport Police responded to the PT Barnum Housing Complex on a ShotSpotter activation and citizens reporting numerous shots fired with a person shot near buildings 10 and 11.
Patrol Officers and AMR Ambulance responded to the scene to find a 22-year-old Shelton man laying down on the ground next to building 11 suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
Bridgeport Patrol Officers secured the crime scene and notified the Detective Bureau (DB). The DB Homicide Squad has taken charge of the investigation with Detectives from the Identification Unit currently collecting evidence within the housing complex. Detectives are working several leads and the scene remains active.
The Bridgeport Police Department has notified next of kin. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
