Bridgeport News: 2 Shot

2019-07-21 @ 3:20am #Bridgeport CT--Gunshots were reported at the intersection of Burnsford Avenue and Dewhirst Street. Responding officers located multiple shell casings at the scene. St. Vincent's Medical Center and Bridgeport Hospital both contacted police and advised that gunshot victims had arrived for treatment. A 31 year old male was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg at Bridgeport Hospital and released. A 26 year old male is currently being treated for gunshot wounds to the abdomen and remains in critical condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Detectives are processing a crime scene on Dewhirst Street and are working to establish the facts and motive of the assaults. Bridgeport News: Mayor Issues Heat Warnings

Bridgeport, CT - Mayor Ganim announced today that the excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for Friday July 19th through Sunday July 21st.  The city’s EOC representatives are currently monitoring the weather and note that high pressure, sunshine, and southwest wind will send temperatures into the 90’s with heat indices near 100.   Hotter and more humid weather is anticipated for Saturday with highs 95-100 and the heat indices expected to be near 110 degrees. An Excessive Heat Watch has been posted from 12noon Saturday until 10pm Sunday with peak excessive heat index values occurring between 2pm and 5pm each day.  See below tips for residents to stay cool, cooling stations, forecast information and related resources, as provided by Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center and Department of…

Man Runs Cross Country To Raise Awareness For Firefighter Cancer

The Fairfield and Bridgeport Firefighters  welcomed Matt Gregg, a retired Apple executive who is running across the country to bring further attention to the associated higher cancer rates in firefighters.  Matt today started off his run at the Home Depot in Fairfield onto Fairfield Avenue to State Street, to Water Street to Fire Headquarters.   Matt zig-zagged across the country starting in California and will run back home in New Hampshire.
