8:50pm-- #Bridgeport CT-- Multiple reports of shots fired on Iranistan Avenue near Lewis Street. Reports of a fight, two shots fired but the gun was taken away by the victims. 6:25pm--#Bridgeport CT--A man in a wheelchair was hit by a car at the corner of Park Avenue and State Street. No word on the extent of his injuries. The driver of the car remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Traffic is backed up in the area.

12:34am--#Stratford CT-- A fire had a significant head start before firefighters arrived at a fire in a three-family home at 361,3 and 5 Canaan Road tonight. Witnesses who attempted to fight the fire with hand-held fire extinguishers said they believe the fire allegedly started from a charcoal grill that was too close to the vinyl siding and spread up the back side of the building. Everyone was able to make it out safely including a family's cat. Firefighters made significant progress in battling the fire but like the fire on Kelsey Street in Bridgeport significant black smoke could be seen spewing from the attic. 7:11pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A boy about 12 years of age was hit by a car on Maplewood Avenue between Park Avenue and Pequonnick Street. First responders said the injuries did not appear to be serious.
8:22pm--#Bridgeport CT--First responders received a call of two adults and two children stuck on the rocks at Seaside Park. Officials launched a "zodiac"/inflatable police and fireboat to rescue what turned out to be four adult males. Assistant Fire Chief Rich D'Onofrio told me that the men were from New York and were unfamiliar with the location and tides. The chief said they are called out a couple times over the summer for these type of rescues despite frequent warnings from the police throughout the day.
UPDATE: Police said Cabot L. Barksdale 5/3/54 of 85 Concord Street Bridgeport was operating a Ford Edge SUV south on Park Avenue then turn west on Garden Street striking a male bicyclist traveling northbound on Garden Street. Witnesses said the Ford Edge accelerated and struck the bicyclist and dragged him about ten feet. The bicyclist lay under the SUV. When officers arrived they found Cabot outside the vehicle smelling of an alcoholic beverage and highly agitated that he had just struck a person. A pint of vodka and a cold 12 ounce can of beer were found in the driver's seat area. Patrol arrested Barksdale for driving Under the Influence.
