Redirecting between $100 million and $150 million in state funding to local school districts by scaling back the rebate program is a significant step in the right direction for our students and our community. The strong focus on increasing education funding is meaningful, appreciated, and reflects a clear recognition of the needs facing our schools. For districts like Bridgeport, additional funding means more direct support in our classrooms, stronger academic programs, and a greater ability to meet the needs of every student we serve. Bridgeport Police Seize 105 Pounds Of Cannabis

On Friday, March 13, 2026, in a coordinated effort, the Bridgeport Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Division, together with the DEA Bridgeport Field Office, The Bridgeport Fire Inspectors Office, and the Bridgeport Building Department, executed a search and seizure warrant at 51 Boston Avenue, operating as Dubai High Tobacco & Vape. During the operation, officers successfully seized approximately 105 lbs. of Cannabis and THC related products, addressing ongoing concerns through the city of Bridgeport as it relates to the illegal sale of cannabis and THC related products by smoke shop establishments. Officers also seized $6,788.00 Us currency believed to be proceeds from the illegal sale of Cannabis / THC products. This is the second successful seizure from this establishment in the last year. The updated image, created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, is intended to show what Bianca may look like today and to generate new leads in a case that has remained unsolved for more than two decades. According to officials, Bianca was last seen waiting to go to school on the morning she disappeared. Police are investigating a carjacking that took place on Wordin Avenue in Bridgeport. According to unconfirmed radio reports, a white Chevrolet Impala was taken at gunpoint by two black males. Pedestrian Struck

At approximately 7:30 PM the Bridgeport Police responded to the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Parrott Avenue for a motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash. When officers arrived, the pedestrian was breathing but unresponsive. The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, and their condition is unknown at this time. The driver remained at the scene and the Bridgeport Police Department is investigating.

Ganim Joins Call for ECS Reform Bridgeport, CT – Today, Mayor Joseph Ganim announced a major component of his upcoming budget proposal, a plan to increase the City’s annual contribution to the Bridgeport Public Schools by $10 million over the next two fiscal years. In an op-ed submitted to the Connecticut Post, Mayor Ganim also called on the state to raise the foundation amount of Connecticut’s Education Cost Sharing (ECS) formula to adjust with inflation.
