On September 29, 2024, at approximately two minutes after midnight, the midnight patrol shift responded to the entrance of the shopping center located at 200 East Main Street, on report of an illegal street takeover.

Patrol units arrived on-scene to find several hundred vehicles and a fully involved illegal street takeover in progress.
In the process of dispersing the large gathering of vehicles and pedestrian observers, patrol officers managed to arrest four persons for taking part in the illegal street takeover.

Carlos Sanchez Hernandez (July 16, 2004) was charged with Breach of Peace and issued an October 16, 2024 court date. He was released after posting a $2,500.00 bond.

Mailin Perez (September 12, 2005) was charged with Breach of Peace, operating an Un-Registered Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. An October 16, 2024 court date was issued. She was released after posting a $2,500.00 bond.

Rodney Gist (January 18, 1999) was charged with Breach of Peace and issued an October 16, 2024 court date. He was released after posting a $2,500.00 bond.

Tyler Ranger (July 08, 1998) was charged with Breach of Peace and issued an October 16, 2024 court date. He was released after posting a $2,500.00 bond.

According to unconfirmed radio reports, a Bridgeport Department of Public Works employee was injured from a fall while working on the Route 8/25 Lindley Street ramp.

Report of two separate situations of pedestrians getting struck by motor vehicles. The first is on Chopsey Hill Road and is reported that the struck person is a child. The second is Catherine street and Washington Ave. There is no further information at this time.

Today’s 2nd vehicle fire is on Route 8 just before the 95-split in a two-car crash. I haven’t heard anything about injuries.

Firefighters were called to Waterview Avenue near Martin Luther King Drive for a Corvette that went through a fence and crashed into a tree. Witnesses said they saw the car traveling at a high rate of speed with the engine revved. One person said they were trying to pop-start the car. The wooded area made extrication extra challenging but they were able to free the elderly woman. Everyone on the scene agreed the tree saved her life by preventing the car from going into the river. She was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police were still sorting this melee on State Street near Clinton Avenue. The incident originated a few blocks up by the YMCA.

Firefighters were in the 200 block of Washington Avenue for an extended period, trying to locate the source of a smoke condition on the third floor. A top-to-bottom search of the apartment building led to the discovery of an electrical issue, according to unconfirmed radio reports.”

A white powder was found in the mail at the Bayview Post Office located at 115 Boston Avenue. The letter and powder seemed to be contained within a passenger car parked outside the post office. EMS was called to assess the recipient.
