Bridgeport News: Driver Arrested After Police Find Marijuana, Ghost Gun During Traffic Stop

On August 29, 2024, officers stopped a vehicle at State Street and West Avenue due to an equipment issue. They found that the driver, Brian Figueiredo Silva, was operating the vehicle with an expired license. During the vehicle inspection, officers discovered a significant amount of marijuana, THC cartridges, and a firearm with an extended magazine. The firearm had no serial number, commonly referred to as a ghost gun. Silva was already subject to a protective order that prohibited him from owning or possessing a firearm, and he did not have a pistol permit. A person jumped to their death from the Congress Street overpass onto the Route northbound lanes according to numerous unconfirmed reports. Police only confirmed that Bridgeport ECC received numerous calls regarding a MVA on route 8 vs. pedestrian.
