CIRMA Issues Members’ Equity Distribution Check to Fairfield

# Fairfield CT--The Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA) has presented the Town of Fairfield and Fairfield Board of Education with a check for $51,959, the prorated share of CIRMA’s $5 million Members’ Equity Distribution for 2019. The Town of Fairfield and Fairfield Board of Education has received $313,256 in distributed Members’ Equity since the program began in 2011. Fairfield News: Lifeguard Rescues Two At Lake Mohegan

2019-07-28 @ 2:34pm--#Fairfield CT-- An alert life guard noticed two brothers in distress at Lake Mohegan located at 960 Morehouse Highway and rescued the two boys single-handedly.  According to witnesses the boys swam out a little too far and began to panic when they realized they could not touch bottom with their feet.  The lifeguard was able to grab both boys bring both boys and bring them into safety.  The youngest, aged 6 swallowed some water.  He was checked out by paramedics from AMR and found out he was okay and released to his grateful parents.   I wanted to interview the lifeguard to tell the good news of his heroic feat but lifeguard supervisor Ben Gullatti asked me to…

Fairfield Little LeagueCapture the Connecticut State Title

The Fairfield Little League Girls Softball (FLLGS) 11u All-Stars battled Bristol and the weather on Thursday to capture the Connecticut State title. The team beat Bristol twice in the best of three game state championship tournament at Dougiello Park. It marked two firsts for the league, as it was the first time Fairfield has hosted a State Championship tournament and the first time FLLGS has won a state title on its home turf.   The post season was a team effort, as all players contributed to the final 4-1 record. Both Francesca Colangelo and Emily Dowd were counted on to pitch well against a strong group of opponents. Fairfield battled teams from Wilton and Seymour to reach the championship round.…

Man Runs Cross Country To Raise Awareness For Firefighter Cancer

The Fairfield and Bridgeport Firefighters  welcomed Matt Gregg, a retired Apple executive who is running across the country to bring further attention to the associated higher cancer rates in firefighters.  Matt today started off his run at the Home Depot in Fairfield onto Fairfield Avenue to State Street, to Water Street to Fire Headquarters.   Matt zig-zagged across the country starting in California and will run back home in New Hampshire.

Fairfield-Bridgeport News: People Trapped In Car With Live Wire

Fairfield Police UPDATE: On 07/17/2019 at approximately 5:16pm Fairfield Emergency Communications received a report of a large tree limb landing on a vehicle injuring the driver in front of 3595 Park Avenue, Fairfield. Officers responded to find Jarrod Marotto, DOB 08/26/1997 of Southington, unconscious in the driver seat. Jarrod was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Further investigation revealed that Jarrod was driving southbound on Park Avenue when a large limb from a Cottonwood tree was struck by lightning and fell striking the vehicle and Jarrod on the driver side. Jarrod was the only occupant in the vehicle. This case is currently under investigation by the Fairfield…
