#FAIRFIELD, CT, 12/26/2016: On Monday morning at 03:28 AM, Fairfield’s Emergency Communications Center received a call for a reported house on fire at 459 Morehouse Lane in the Southport section of Fairfield. The caller reported that there was a fire in the house and that all the occupants had escaped. During the families’ escape, one occupant jumped from a second floor window sustaining minor injuries. The first three firefighters arrived on scene under the command of LT Philip Higgins within ten minutes of notification. Upon arrival, firefighting crews found heavy fire involvement of the residence. All available on-duty personnel and equipment were called to the scene under the direction of Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood. The Westport Fire Department was special called to scene to assist in establishing a water supply down the long and narrow roadway. The Bridgeport Fire Department provided station coverage during this incident.
At the time of the fire, seven occupants were asleep in the residence. Two occupants were transported to a local hospital with injuries by American Medical Response. Firefighting crews currently remain on the scene, and the Fire Prevention Division will be conducting the investigation. The Red Cross and the Milford Fire Department Canteen also responded to provide assistance to both the family and responders during the night’s frigid temperatures. “We would like all our residents to test their smoke alarms and please be attentive to open flames, candle usage and fire places during this holiday season”, says Chief Denis McCarthy.
#Fairfield CT– On December 20th Larissa Swanson, daughter of Gary and Sue Swanson who own Swanson Fish Market posted on her Facebook page : “So it’s finally official today, after 45 Year’s my father has decided to move on to another business venture and sell Swanson’s Fish Market. This will officially be our last Holiday. We have been a landmark here in Fairfield County, being voted best seafood for over 30 straight years, so it is a very bittersweet feeling for our family. Swanson’s doors will be officially shut after New Year’s Day, so come down for the holiday and get what you can while it lasts! Thank you all to our loyal customers, we love you”.
Today, Larissa posted that her grandfather, Gerry who founded the company passed away. At one time there were five locations located in Fairfield, Bridgeport, Monroe, Hamden, and Orange. After a series of closures, only the Fairfield location at 2439 Black Rock Turnpike remained. But on July 4, 2012, the Fairfield locations was destroyed. The store was rebuilt. In 2014 Gary and Sue Swanson turned to the TV show The Profit to help save and expand the business. The episode remains controversial to this day. A deli is slated to take its place but I have not received confirmation of who the new owners will be.

12:22pm–#Fairfield CT– A woman was caught by a citizen stealing packages off porches on Brooklawn Terrace. The citizen got a plate number and Fairfield Police located the car. She was charged with 6th-degree larceny and driving with a suspended license and is now on the naughty list..

#Fairfield CT–Last week, the Fairfield Police Department delivered toys to St. Vincent’s Hospital. Dianne Auger, Senior Vice President at St Vincent’s said they toys will not only be used for the holidays but throughout the year like during birthdays. The police department also delivered toys to Bridgeport Hospital this week.
