Fairfield News: Substance in Gould Manor Pond

#Fairfield CT--If you have driven by Gould Manor on Holland Road and saw the firetruck the the firefighters have been trying to contain a very large green substance in the catch basins and pond. Suzanne, a concerned citizen/neighbor spotted the spill earlier in the day and was mad thinking someone poured anti-freeze into the waterways. She called Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) who in turned called the Fairfield Firefighters. Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola coordinated efforts to contain the substance with booms. The substance may also be a dye that was used to test sewer systems. 12:30pm--#cttraffic--#Fairfield CT--A tractor trailer is on the shoulder of I-95 southbound near the exit ramp for the closed rest area with smoke coming from under the hood and reports say fluids from the truck is leaking onto the travel lanes. Expect delays, firefighters on scene but nothing showing on the traffic camera.

Westport Veterans Day Services Announced

#Westport CT--William Vornkahl, President of the Westport Veterans Council announced that the Town of Westport will hold Veterans Day services on Tuesday, November 11 in the Town Hall At 10:30 a.m, the Westport Community Band, under the direction of Sal LaRusso, will present a “Patriotic Salute to All Veterans” program which will include marches and The services will begin at 11:00 am, and include the Veterans Day address by Staples High School Senior Kevin Watt and Veterans Day remarks by First Selectman James Marpe. Taps will be played by Staples High School student Samantha Atlas and Emily Burke, and prayers by the Rev. Alison Buttrick Patton, Pastor of Saugatuck Congregational Church.
