Small Business Shout Out

NOW all my family members have an Interstate Battery in their car!

Last week I said all my family members have an Interstate in their car. I forgot to check my daughter's car and sure enough at 5 am this morning she calls me that her car stalled on the way to work. I got her to work and the car to Penfield Service Center at 691 Post Road in Fairfield. Bob Trez quickly diagnosed it as a battery issue. Bob stocks Interstate Batteries, from our sponsor Larry Judge. So it's not always a dead battery that can leave you completely stranded. The car did restart but there wasn't enough power left after starting which caused it to stall out. NOW I can sleep better! Thanks, Bob and Larry!

Your CBD Store

With my type 2 diabetes neuropathy and my 14 year old cat’s anxiety acting up, I knew it was time to pay a visit to Kevin at the Your CBD Store located at 3030 Fairfield Avenue in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. It has calmed my 14 year old cat with his anxieties and calm him from the recent loss of his sister. I have found that it does help with the tingling and pain from neuropathy. Kevin said he can’t make those claims but just Google “CBD oil benefits” and discover what others and science have said. If Kevin looks familiar that is because he runs the website On Scene Media in New Haven. If you are unsure…

My Car Is 19 Years And Still Going Strong!

Last month I took the old DoingItLocalMobile into Penfield Service Center 691 Post Road in Fairfield.  I'm happy to say Robert Trez, the owner put the same great care into servicing the car like Nick Gramina from Fairfield Auto Care did before he retired.  Finding a good mechanic who doesn't take advantage of people could be hard.   My daughter now drives my 2001 Subaru Forester.  She and the car are the same age (19)!  If it weren't reliable I would have her behind that wheel.  If you have a child getting ready to off to college I highly recommend you have Bob look it over for your peace of mind1   I personally recommend Penfield Service Center, call them…

Small Business Help

It bothers me to see businesses closing due to coronavirus shutdown.  Through no fault of their own, businesses had to shut down without warning and no ability to prepare for this.  What bothers me the most seeing their dreams destroyed.  The brick and mortar or storefronts get hammed the most because they still had rent to pay while being closed with no income.   If you own a storefront business, I want to help.  Email me at Steve@DoingItLocal.com (no Facebook Messanger-email only) with a brief message about your business, where it's located and the type of business it is.  This will be a Zoom interview so you will need to know how to use Zoom and have a very good…

SENATORS CALL ON SENATE LEADERSHIP TO BOLSTER BACKGROUND CHECK PROGRAM

WASHINGTON, DC] – With gun sales spiking since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) urged Senate leadership and appropriators to include funding in the next relief package to address the dangerous backlog of background checks. The Senators called for an additional $20 million for the National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP) to ensure states and local governments are able to maintain accurate records and keep guns out of the hands of abusers and others seeking firearms illegally. “Prohibited purchasers put our communities in imminent danger,” wrote the Senators to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-AL), and Senate Appropriations Vice…

Telehealth Law Passes

During the pandemic, telehealth has made it safe and convenient for individuals to receive care from their doctors from the safety of their own homes. For the first time in Connecticut, insurance companies are treating in-person visits and virtual visits equally, and this provision applies to both mental and physical healthcare. HB 6001, "An Act Concerning Telehealth," would expand access to telehealth and continue to waive the customary restrictions on online medical health care services so that patients can continue to be attended to in the comfort of their own home for months to come.   This press release was made possible by:
