STRATFORD LIBRARY HOLDS ANNUAL BOOK SALE JUNE 3-5 Board Fund-Raiser Begins June 3rd with “Advance Sale”             The Stratford Library will return with its annual book sale Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 5, 2022.  The sale, which is a major fund-raiser for the library, is being organized this year by the Board of Trustees under Co-chairmen Sue Johnson and Beth DaPonte of Stratford.              Browsers at this year’s sale will find thousands of books, videos, DVDs and audio tapes at bargain prices covering every conceivable subject from religion, business, music and art to philosophy, science fiction, biography, non-fiction and best-sellers.  The initial sale will commence with an “Advance Sale” on Friday, June 3 from 5-8 pm.  There is a $5 entry fee with all books full price. AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM SET AT LIBRARY

The Stratford Library, in conjunction with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), will offer another session of the “AARP Driver Safety Program”, a classroom driver retraining program designed to help older persons improve their driving skills on Thursday, May 19, 2022, 1-5pm.  The one-day class program, one of dozens offered by the agency every year, will be held in the Library’s Lovell Room.  Developed by the AARP, the program is the first comprehensive driver retraining course geared to the specific needs of older motorists.  The course material covers the effects of aging and medications on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, energy saving and accident prevention measures.  No written, physical or driving tests are given. …

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced that the Exit 33 Southbound off-ramp on Interstate 95 will be open to motorists at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022. This follows the opening of the I-95 Exit 33 Northbound on-ramp in November 2021. The Interchange 33 Project in Stratford made the area a full interchange, with on- and off-ramps accessible in both highway directions. “This project has been in the making for many years, and now with both new ramps open, access to a major shopping and economic area in Stratford is more convenient. Stratford News: Internet Ad Robbery

On 04/23/2022 the Stratford Police Department investigated a robbery in the Town of Stratford. It was determined the victim placed an online Facebook Market Place advertisement to sell an IPHONE. The suspect and victim met at a prearranged location where the suspect assaulted the victim and stole his IPHONE. The victim observed a handgun during the robbery. The Stratford Police Detective Bureau with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Department Task Force identified the main suspect as SHAHIEM DONALD(DOB 10/09/2003) of Ansonia. It was later determined Donald and his co-conspirators would contact various victims throughout Fairfield County online to arrange to either buy or sell IPHONES and other items. Stratford Library Offers “Stress Management” Talk

Health Program Set for May 10 on Zoom             The Stratford Library has announced that it will host a virtual, live program about managing stress.  “Stress Management: A Proactive Approach” is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10 from 12-1 pm.  The program, available on the Library’s Zoom platform, is free and open to the public. Wellness Expert Jill Patterson returns to the Library with an engaging workshop explaining what stress is, how the body responds to stress and how one can manage stress. Participants will learn about a variety of tools including nutrition for stress management, movement and other modalities.  Stress is very common today and can wreak havoc on the immune system, health and well-being.  Patterson will discuss strategies that will provide solutions for optimal stress management.
