Stratford News: Mayor Congratulates Ms. Connecticut Senior America

#Stratford CT-- Mayor Hoydick said "It was a great pleasure to welcome Stratford’s own Debra Walls this week during a meeting of the Stratford Town Council. Debra was recently named Ms. Connecticut Senior America. She was presented a proclamation on behalf of the Town in recognition of her achievement".Debra will go on to represent Stratford and Connecticut in the Ms. Senior America competition taking place this September in Hershey, PA. The Ms. Senior America Pageant’s philosophy is based on the belief that seniors are the foundation of America, and our most valuable treasure.Congratulations Debra, and good luck in September!

Bridgeport News: 2 Shot

Police UPDATE: Bridgeport Police: At 1521hrs the Bridgeport ECC receive several calls regarding possible parties shot in the area of Fourth St. BPD was immediately dispatched to the area. While enroute the Bridgeport ECC received a call from Bridgeport Hospital reporting a GSW party was dropped off by a private vehicle. Unknown extent of injured. Preliminary reports indicate the incident may have occurred in Stratford and both victims fled into Bridgeport. This is an active investigation. STRATFORD LIBRARY HOLDS ANNUAL BOOK SALE JUNE 3-5 Board Fund-Raiser Begins June 3rd with “Advance Sale”             The Stratford Library will return with its annual book sale Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 5, 2022.  The sale, which is a major fund-raiser for the library, is being organized this year by the Board of Trustees under Co-chairmen Sue Johnson and Beth DaPonte of Stratford.              Browsers at this year’s sale will find thousands of books, videos, DVDs and audio tapes at bargain prices covering every conceivable subject from religion, business, music and art to philosophy, science fiction, biography, non-fiction and best-sellers.  The initial sale will commence with an “Advance Sale” on Friday, June 3 from 5-8 pm.  There is a $5 entry fee with all books full price. AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM SET AT LIBRARY

The Stratford Library, in conjunction with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), will offer another session of the “AARP Driver Safety Program”, a classroom driver retraining program designed to help older persons improve their driving skills on Thursday, May 19, 2022, 1-5pm.  The one-day class program, one of dozens offered by the agency every year, will be held in the Library’s Lovell Room.  Developed by the AARP, the program is the first comprehensive driver retraining course geared to the specific needs of older motorists.  The course material covers the effects of aging and medications on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, energy saving and accident prevention measures.  No written, physical or driving tests are given. …
