#Bridgeport CT–The Bridgeport Police Traffic Division have made an arrest in the fatal hit and run accident that took the life of 81 year old Gasper Esteves of Bridgeport on June 25, 2017. Mr. Esteves was standing outside of his Ford Ranger in front of his sister’s house on Arlington St, Bridgeport when he was struck by a Volkswagen Passat. The operator of the striking vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. Mr. Esteves was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced deceased a few hours later.
The Bridgeport Police Traffic Division Accident Investigation Team investigated the collision and determined that Pearak Pha, 27, of Bridgeport was the operator of the Vollkswagen. An arrest warrant was issued for Pha and he was located by Traffic Officer Sam McKelvie on Ogden St on March 28 and taken into custody. Pha was charged with Misconduct With a Motor Vehicle and Felony Evading Responsibility, bond $50,000.
This is the second fatal Bridgeport crash this week that has been closed with an arrest. On Tuesday, March 27, Joseph Guzman-Rivera was served with a warrant at a court appearance prepared by Bridgeport Police Traffic Division Officer Michael Falbo for the fatal crashes that caused the death of a Bridgeport woman and severely injured 2 pedestrians on August 10, 2017.
12:20pm–3/28/2018–#Bridgeport CT–Police were called to Harding High School by principal Dane Brown who told police that a teacher had reported concerns about an In-School-Suspension (ISS) Coordinator Carl Lemon, 63, who made threats. According to the police report, Lemon told the teacher that he “disliked Caucasian race” and “couldn’t wait for the Panthers to give the ok and a revolution begins because he will execute every white man he gets his hands on”. The teacher said he was very concerned about Lemon’s behavior. The teacher also witnessed Lemon take the American flag and proceeded to stomp on it saying “this is what I think about it” the report continued.
The initial reporting officer called for backup and after speaking with the superintendent of schools advised that Harding High School is put on “lockdown” while officers placed Lemon under arrest and take him into custody. When officers approached Lemons in the In Schoo Suspension classroom, officers saw him opened and closed his desk several times and shuffling papers across his desk attempting to hide something officers said. After being taken into custody police and transported to booking police returned to the classroom. There in the drawer police located in a plastic bag a kitchen knife. Police removed the knife and entered it in evidence. Police advised the school principal remove his computer and have the hard drive examined.
The school was put on a ten-minute lockdown and no students were in the hallway as Lemon left the building. Lemon was charged with Threatening in the second degree, and Breach of Peace. His bond was set at $5,000.00.
10:47pm–#Bridgeport CT- A woman called the police to report that three masked males hit her in the head in an attempted robbery in the 200 block of Wilson Street.

#Westport CT–At approximately 9:00pm on 03/25/18, officers were dispatched to a gas station on a report of an unwanted party. Upon arrival, officers located Lee Bember, 30, of Bridgeport, parked in the lot. Officers learned Bember had an outstanding warrant out of Trumbull, CT. The victim reported that on the previous day, Bember entered the station and picked her cell phone off of the counter and called his own. Since then, Bember kept coming to the business after repeated verbal statements and texts to stay away and leave. Bember was taken into custody and transported to headquarters where officers located a bullet in his coat pocket. Bember was prohibited from possessing ammunition based on prior felony convictions. He was charged with 53a-107 Criminal Trespass 1 st and 53a-217 Criminal Possession of Firearm/Ammunition/Electronic Defense Weapon. He posted a $1,000 cash bond for said charges and was released to Trumbull PD on the charges of the outstanding warrant. Bember is scheduled to Appear in Norwalk Court on 04/09/2018.
