After battling a porch fire in Black Rock, firefighters were called to a larger fire at the intersection of Huntington Road and Beecher Street. Chief Edwards told us everyone made it out of the building safely. There were no reported injuries. The Red Cross has been called to help with 5 adults and a child with their immediate needs. Shelton Police Arrest Suspect in September 14 Street Takeover Hit-and-Run

Shelton, CT — On 10/15/2025, Shelton Police arrested Jason Berrios, 17, of Norwalk in connection with an individual being struck in the parking lot of 862 Bridgeport Avenue on 09/14/2025 during a street takeover. Berrios turned himself in on an arrest warrant issued as part of the investigation. He was processed and charged with Reckless Driving and Evading Responsibility, released after posting a $25,000 court-set bond, and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on 11/05/2025. Berrios was charged as an adult, as motor vehicle charges are applicable to 16- and 17-year-olds. Juvenile Struck During Shelton ‘Street Takeover’; Police Seek Fleeing Driver

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, Shelton Police and Shelton EMS responded to the parking lot at 862 Bridgeport Avenue for a report of an individual struck by a vehicle during a street takeover. As officers and EMS approached, several vehicles were observed fleeing the area. On scene, officers located a juvenile male who had reportedly been struck by a vehicle operating recklessly in the parking lot. The juvenile was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for serious injuries. The Shelton Police Department is actively investigating. Anyone with information regarding the incident or the pictured vehicle is asked to contact the Shelton Police Department Detective Bureau.

Route 8 Off-Ramp Pedestrian Strike; Shelton Man Arrested

State police say a pedestrian suffered suspected minor injuries after being struck by a gray Toyota Corolla on the Route 8 northbound exit 12B off-ramp in Derby at about 11:10 a.m. on September 9, 2025. Investigators obtained video showing the Corolla reverse, shift into drive, and accelerate toward the victim before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed onto East Main Street. Troopers identified the driver as Keith Chapman of Shelton and, with assistance from Shelton Police, took him into custody without incident. Chapman was charged with Interfering with an Officer, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Breach of Peace 1st Degree, Reckless Driving, and Evading Responsibility with Physical Injury; he was released on a $10,000 bond and is due…
