Brush Fire Shuts Down Lanes on I-95 in Westport

Westport firefighters were dispatched at 12:21 PM Friday to a report of a brush fire on I-95 southbound between Exits 19 and 18. The initial assignment included Engine 5, Engine 2, and Car 3. Upon arrival, Engine 5 found an active brush fire alongside the highway. Car 3 reported that the fire was rapidly spreading due to terrain and wind conditions, prompting a request for additional resources. Engine 4 was called to access the fire from Sasco Creek Road, while Fairfield Fire Department responded with one engine and Rescue 1 to I-95, as well as an engine and Car 3 to assist Engine 4 on Sasco Creek Road. 2021 Cold Case Arrest

https://youtu.be/v8UF5_uv5Kg The Bridgeport Police Department announced today the arrest of 38 year-old Victor “Chapo” Colon, DOB: 07/22/87, of Bridgeport, for the murder of Joselito Calderon inside of the Copa Bar and Restaurant at 181 Lexington Ave. on July 11th, 2021. Colon was one of several armed suspects who entered the Copa shortly before 1:00 a.m. in a failed robbery attempt. Mr. Calderon was the security guard at the bar/restaurant. He was shot and killed while stopping the robbery. Victor Colon is a convicted felon. He was charged with Felon Murder, Accessory to Murder, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Attempt Robbery in the First Degree. His bond is $2,000,000.00. (NAUGATUCK, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has begun construction on a new train station in Naugatuck, advancing the Lamont administration’s plan to modernize the entire Waterbury Branch Line and spur downtown redevelopment.
