#Ansonia CT–On August 25, 2019 at 12:43 P.M., the Ansonia Police Department responded to the Stop & Shop at 100 Division Street in Ansonia to investigate a report of a motor vehicle versus pedestrian accident. The first officer on scene found two injured pedestrians; a car driving in the parking lot struck both pedestrians near the entrance to the store. The first pedestrian, a 51-year-old female resident of Ansonia, suffered a severe leg injury. Her leg was caught between the vehicle and a steel column causing the amputation of her leg below the knee. The female was transported to a local hospital where she is listed in serious but stable condition. The second pedestrian, a 60-year-old male resident of Ansonia, suffered head and facial injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The driver of the car is Aurelia Caprio, age 88 of Shelton, she was treated for minor injuries.

Based on the investigation and eyewitness reports, Caprio was pulling out of a parking spot in the lot when she lost control of her car and struck both pedestrians. Caprio did not report any physical issues or illness as a cause of the accident and she did not report any mechanical issues with her car. Caprio’s driver’s license was seized and returned to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

2019-08-03 @ 12:37am–#Shelton CT– Two calls in a row for Shelton.  A man was maced at Ann’s Place at 352 Coram Avenue.  Ambulance requested but they are all tied up at Garden Heights on Rocky Rest Road.

2019-08-03 @ 12:14am–#Shelton CT– Firefighters and 3 ambulances dispatched to Garner Heights at 172 Rocky Rest Road.  Radio reports say there is an electrical fire in the walls near an electrical outlet, the building is filling with smoke, flames now reported

#Ansonia CT–George & Lee-Ann’s Pool Party Band lead off with Saturday in the Park for the re-dedication of Abe Stone / Colony Park. Mayor Cassetti said he remembers as a child playing in the park and had noticed the decline in the park. He then set out to refurbish one of Ansonia’s public park jewels. Together with sponsors and utilities he was able to muster $17,000 make this happen. Installed were picnic tables, a boating pier, hiking trails, trails around the pond. The basketball courts were refurbished along with volleyball and soccer fields. The snack shack was also completely refirbished.

Next year the mayor hopes to have a fifty feet by eighty foot section of the pond dredged to bring swimming back to the pond.

The park was named for Abe Stone, a man who dedicated his life to the park. From picking up trash, turning the lights on for the skaters or shoveling the snow off the pond for the skaters Abe Stone did it for the love of the park.

2019-07-20 @ 9:40pm–#Derby CT–#cttraffic– A rollover accident on Route 8 southbound near exit 14.  All in the vehicle have safely made it out of the vehicle.  Expect delays in the area.
