Westport News: Picking Up Child From School Intoxicated

On 05/05/16, Victoria Lieber appeared intoxicated as she picked up her juvenile child from school. Westport Officers followed up at Lieber’s residence where Lieber smelled of an alcoholic beverage. Lieber failed the field sobriety tests given by the Officers. It was also determined that Lieber threatened the juvenile while driving in the car. A warrant was submitted to Norwalk Court at that time. On 06/09/16, Lieber turned herself in for the active warrant for Risk of Injury to a Minor. #Westport Connecticut---On 06/09/16 at approximately 7:00pm, Westport Officers were dispatched to Exxon, 1510 Post Road East, on a report that a male and female  ttempted to make a large cigarette purchase using a fraudulent credit card. The store clerk immediately recognized the suspects as they attempted a similar purchase a week earlier. The suspects left the store prior to police arrival. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle a short time later in the Shake Shack parking lot unoccupied. Officers located the suspects, Geraldy Beraud and Aliyah Somerville inside the restaurant.  Officers then located several credit cards with Beraud’s and Somerville’s names on them in the Shake Shack bathroom garbage. Westport Crash

#Westport CT--Monday, 6/5/2015--The Westport Fire Department was dispatched along with Fairfield Firefighters to a Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries on I95 between exits 18 and 19. The initial dispatch from Westport was Engine 5, Rescue 3 and the Shift Commander. Engine 5 arrived and found a two car crash involving a SUV and a flatbed tow truck. The SUV sustained heavy damage. Neither driver required extrication. Firefighters from Westport and Fairfield worked to secure the vehicles in place and treated both drivers for injuries until EMS arrived.  All three travel lanes were shut down for a period of time. CSP was on scene to investigate and control traffic. The last Fire department unit cleared the highway at 3:17AM

Westport News: Man Arrested Twice For Larceny

A man was arrested twice for larceny, first incident at the Westport Tennis Club and then again at the Saugatuck Rowing Club.  The Westport Police Press release synopsis is below:   On 05/26/16, Westport Detectives responded to Norwalk Court to serve an arrest warrant on Ronald Garafalo for a larceny he committed in October of 2015. On 10/05/15, Westport Officers responded to the Westport Tennis Club, 1696 Post Road East, on a report of a stolen wallet. Garafalo was observed throwing a wallet in the parking lot of the Tennis Club. A witness picked up the wallet and returned in to the victim, who left the wallet in her duffle bag at the receptionist counter at the Tennis Club. The victim reported missing $200.00 cash from her…

#Westport Connecticut--  Three students—one each from Choate Rosemary Hall, Staples High School, and Green Farms Academy—have won TEAM Westport’s Teen Diversity Essay Contest, which is co-sponsored with the Westport Library. The annual contest is open to high school students who reside in Westport or who attend school in Westport. Westport News: Operating Under the Influence

On 05/19/16 at approximately 1:00am, Ryan Gussen was stopped by the Westport Police for almost crashing into the guardrails on the Sherwood Island Connector, and waiting at green lights. Gussen was slurring his speech and was moving slowly. Officers performed the Standard Field Sobriety Tests and determined that Gussen was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol. Gussen was taken into custody. On his person, Officers located 2 Adderall pills and 2.5 Xanax pills in a pill container that should not have those pills in it. Westport Police Standoff Ends Peacefully

(Westport) This morning, at approximately 10:00am, Westport Officers responded to a Richmondville Avenue address on a minor civil dispute. Upon Officer’s arrival, the residents, Kyle and Carrie Owen, were in the driveway. Kyle and Carrie then retreated into the home and did not allow Officers to enter. Kyle then came to the door holding a hatchet and refused to come outside. Kyle was yelling and swearing at Officers and was seen walking aggressively in the house. It was determined that Kyle and Carrie were in the home with their juvenile child. Officers immediately set up a perimeter on the house and evacuated neighbors to safety. The Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team (SWRERT) was activated, with tactical officers and negotiators arriving at approximately 12:00pm. Negotiators from the SWRERT team…
