GREENS FARMS VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES EASTER EGG HUNT APRIL 19
The Greens Farms Volunteer Fire Company will hold its 63nd Saturday, April 19 on the grounds of Long Lots School, Hyde Lane, Westport at 2:00 PM. Children will hunt for the eggs in age groups through age ten. Children finding special marked eggs will receive Easter baskets. The Easter bunny will be there to meet and greet the children.

Westport News: No animals on the beach
Westport Parks & Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy today reminded citizens that as of April 1 the “no animals at the beaches” regulation will be in effect. It includes Compo, Burying Hill and Old Mill beaches. “Animals will not be permitted on any beach property, which includes all grass, sand, and the parking areas, except Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach, as well as the roads within the beach area,” said McCarthy. “This regulation will be in effect until October 1.” Parking emblems will be required on all vehicles entering town beaches beginning Tuesday, May 1.
Westport News: Swearing In of New Westport Officer
Westport CT–On Thursday, March 20, 2014 Brendan Fearon was sworn in as a Westport Police Officer by First Selectman Jim Marpe .The ceremony was held at Town Hall.
Brendan Fearon, age 25, is a Shelton, CT native and resides in Southbury. He is a 2010 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Officer Fearon comes to the Westport Police Department from the Monroe Police Department. Previous to that he was employed as the Emergency Management Coordinator with the Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals in Boston, MA.
Westport News: Police recover stolen Bridgeport car
#Westport CT #Bridgeport CT– At approximately 9:37am, Bridgeport Police advised surrounding towns that a vehicle was stolen in their city. After the description was given to Westport patrol officers, Officer Thomas Casimiro observed the vehicle traveling west on Post Road East. Officer Casimiro stopped the vehicle and took the operator into custody without incident. Bridgeport Police responded to the scene to take custody of the vehicle and the suspect. Suspect was identified as Yannick Williams out of New Haven. For further information please contact Bridgeport Police as they arrested the suspect. Special thanks to Eric Simmons for the photo!
Westport P&Z to review Amendment
Laurence Bradley, Westport Planning & Zoning Director announced today that on February 27, 2014, the Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to review two text amendments (Amendment #669 and Amendment #672) to the Westport Zoning Regulations.
Amendment #669 (Application #13-065) was submitted by Karen Johnson on behalf of DC Kemper- Gunn, LLC to modify the zoning regulations to allow for the relocation of historic buildings in the Business Center District/Historic (BCD/H Zone).
Amendment #672 (Application #14-007) was submitted by the Planning & Zoning Commission to limit the size of commercial tenant spaces in the Business Center District (BCD Zone) and the Business Center District/Historic (BCD/H Zone) to no more than 10,000 square feet. The amendment is also designed to preclude the merger of commercial properties or tenant spaces across property lines within these two zones. It further proposes that parking for new floor area in the BCD/H Zone will be now required.
All those interested in these amendments are encouraged to attend the Planning & Zoning Commission’s public hearing on February 27th Copies of the amendments are available for viewing in Town Hall both in the P&Z Office and in the office of the Town Clerk.
The Commission can receive written comments from the public in advance of the hearing. Once the hearing is closed, no more information or comments will be accepted. at 7:00 PM in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium.
