Old Road/Wakeman Lane Bridge Replacement Project

Traffic Detours April 1 through November 30 Westport, CT - Town Engineer Keith Wilberg has announced that the project to replace the Old Road Bridge over Sasco Creek at the Westport/Fairfield Town Line begins soon. The road is Wakeman Lane in Fairfield. The scheduled closing date of the roadway is on or about Tuesday, April 1, and is expected to continue through November 30. Local traffic will be directed through the designated detour route – Old Road to Bulkley Avenue North to Post Road East to Hulls Highway to Wakeman Lane, or the reverse, as necessary. Bridgeport Police Investigate Union Avenue Shooting That Injured 14-Year-Old

Bridgeport police are investigating a shooting that injured a 14-year-old boy on Saturday evening. At approximately 5:10 p.m. on March 22, ShotSpotter detected gunfire in the 700 block of Union Avenue. Around 5:40 p.m., the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center was notified that a teen had arrived at Bridgeport Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, which was later abandoned on Mill Hill Avenue. Officers secured evidence at both locations, and the Detective Bureau’s Crime Gun Intelligence Team is actively working leads. Household Hazardous Waste Day and Neonics Insecticides

Westport, CT - In 2018, the State of Connecticut became one of the first states in the nation to restrict the use of insecticides called Neonicotinoids or “Neonics” for short.  This class of chemicals has been proven to be especially harmful to the world’s pollinators. All are encouraged to help protect pollinators and products containing Neonics to Hazardous Waste Day. The Public Works Department encourages residents to take advantage of Household Hazardous Waste Day and safely dispose of any neonicotinoid containing insecticides.
