Convicted Felon Arrested After Shots Fired in Ansonia
On March 7, 2025 at about 10:30 P.M., the Ansonia Police Department received multiple calls reporting shots fired from in or around 84 Franklin Street. A witness reported seeing a gun pointed out a window at the location and fired towards the rear of the house into the woods. Officers made contact with the owner/resident, another occupant of the home and shell casings were located outside the home. A search warrant was obtained for the home and located during the search were two handguns, a shotgun, three BB guns, and ammunition for the handguns and shotgun.Ryan Ortiz, age 39, the owner of the home is a convicted felon for Illegal Sale of Firearm in New York. Shots Fired-Then Pursuit
Bridgeport Police were called for a report of shots fired at Greene Homes. Police pursued the suspects in a black Nissan up Route 8, but broke off the pursuit at exit 11 according to unconfirmed state police radio reports. Bridgeport News: Porch Fire
Bridgeport firefighters were called to a porch fire on Marion Street where they discovered a fire on the back deck. They quickly extinguished the fire with no extension to the home.
Brush Fire
Bridgeport Firefighters were called to a brush fire on Exeter Street near Chopsey Hill Road. Finding the fire close to a house they quickly called in additional resources as well as mutual aid from surrounding towns. Worker Injured in Industrial Accident at Lecoq Cuisine
At around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, the Bridgeport Fire Department responded to Lecoq Cuisine at 35 Union Avenue for an industrial accident. An employee’s hand had become trapped between two rollers inside a machine. Rescue 5 successfully freed the worker after the company’s maintenance team de-energized the machine before firefighters arrived. The employee was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, and OSHA has been notified of the incident.

Bridgeport News: UPDATE on Ash Street alleged shooting: No Reported Injuries
Bridgeport police responded to Ash Street after a woman was seen running outside, yelling for help, and knocking on a resident’s door, claiming she had been shot. Emergency responders, including AMR and the Bridgeport Fire Department, arrived at the scene and found no visible injuries, but the woman was still taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
