Westport, CT - Elaine Daignault, Director of the Department of Human Services announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s (formerly known as CTWorks) Career Coach at Westport Town Hall. On Thursday, July 12 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m. The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area. The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities. Bridgeport News: Fire-Neighbor Cited As Hero
UPDATE: A Trumbull Avenue woman became trapped on the roof of the porch of her Cape Cod style home because she was sleeping on the second floor when the fire broke out. A neighbor ran and got a ladder to rescued her. Fire officials say the neighbors are heroes for saving the woman’s life. The woman was taken to the hospital, unknown injuries. The homeowner says he lost virtually everything in the fire. 11:39pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A fire on the 2nd floor next door to 85 Trumbull Avenue. Bridgeport News: Person Shot Outside Of Tiago’s
2:00am--#Bridgeport CT-- Right at closing time police received a call for shots fired outside of Tiago's Bar and Grill at 211 State Street. The shots were fired from McLevy's Green right across the street. EMS was called for a security person at Tiago's who was trampled. A short time later a person arrived at the hospital shot in the back. A large area of State Street was taped off as a crime scene.

2:30pm--6/27/2018 #Bridgeport CT-- After an investigation initiated by neighborhood complaints the Connecticut State Police with the Bridgeport Gang Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force executed a search warrant at 281 Thorme Street. Michael Barkley of 281 Thorme Street was taken into custody without incident. 281 Thorme Street is less than a block away from Blackham Elementary School. During the execution of the search warrant officers located 2 handguns (Glock 17-9mm and a Glock 31- .357 caliber), 507 grams of marijuana, 6.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 15 Oxycodone pills, $4665 in cash, scales, packaging materials, 130 rounds of mixed ammunition and hundreds of cartridge casing and bullets used to manufacture .45 caliber rounds.
