10:34pm-- #Bridgeport CT—Multiple witnesses told me that it was teens lighting off fireworks on the roof of a vacant building at 1119 Stratford Avenue that started a fire to the structure. Firefighters on arrival reported heavy fire in the back of the building. It took firefighters about fifteen minutes to knock the bulk of the fire down and about an hour to extinguish all the hot spots. Firefighters needed four hand lines to extinguish the fire in addition to other hose lines to protect neighboring homes. One firefighter received minor injuries.

4:22pm--#Ansonia CT-- A 27 year old man was shot at Fourth and North Main Street The man was shot in the torso and transported to the hospital. Derby Police located the suspect car on Route 34 and pursued it into West Haven. The firearm was located on Route 34. The driver is in custody. BRIDGEPORT, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced that the city and his administration are anticipating that the Governor’s Interim Budget Proposal will fall short up to $27 million dollars in municipal funds for the City of Bridgeport. In wake of the uncertainty of financial funding from the state, the city will proceed cautiously with expenditures until the State budget is resolved. Connecticut State Troopers are patrolling highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2017 Independence Day weekend. During this enforcement period, Troopers are utilizing both traditional and non-traditional patrol cars. The enforcement period started at 12:01 a.m. 06/30/17 and will run through 11:59 p.m. on 07/04/17. Troopers are focusing on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers, and speeding. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols are also in place for the entire weekend.
