A man, who is not affiliated with the university, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in a campus dining hall, reportedly following a personal dispute. The identified person of interest, 18-year-old Dylan Cruz-Tillery of Queens, New York, has not yet been located. Bridgeport Police are coordinating with the NYPD’s 105th Precinct to find him. Police confirmed that shots were fired in the dining hall at the University of Bridgeport. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to the hospital. Bridgeport’s 11th Homicide

On October 20, 2024, around 11:20 a.m., Bridgeport Police responded to a report of a person shot on the 200 block of Goddard Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Jahseim Cherry, 22, of New Haven, later succumbed to his injuries, marking Bridgeport’s 11th homicide of the year.
