(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong issued the following statement regarding a notice of intent filed today with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority by Aquarion Water seeking to raise rates by 27 percent over three years. Eversource acquired Aquarion in 2017. While this is the first rate case filed by Aquarion since that acquisition, the company has imposed a series of escalating Water Infrastructure and Conservation Adjustment surcharges, now totaling a cumulative 10.3 percent. State statute caps those surcharges at 10 percent. 2022-07-05@11:44am--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called for an oil spill on Commerce Drive. Witnesses said a pick-up truck was carting a barrel with oil when it turned onto Commerce Drive from Fairfield Avenue when the barrel tipped over. The driver righted the barrel but left the spill behind. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was notified of the oil that flowed into the storm drain.

Police UPDATE: Reportedly, a 30 year old male damaged some/most of his hand while using fireworks. During the months of May and June 2022 the Bridgeport Police Department Narcotics and Vice Division received information that a narcotics dealer referred to as "Joker" was selling crack cocaine out of a residence within the 700 block of Hallett Street. As a result of that investigation the identity of the crack dealer was determined to be 52-year-old Pedro “Joker” Ortiz of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Narcotics and Vice Detectives further learned that Joker had an associate that would resupply his Hallett Street operation. A search and seizure warrant was secured for Joker and his residence.
