Police UPDATE: At 1636hrs the Bridgeport ECC received a ShotSpotter Activation for Stratford Avenue between Union Ave. and Carroll Ave. Additional 911 calls were received indicating a possible person shot along with a vehicle struck. Suspected parties fled down Union Ave. Both hospitals checked clear for any GSW victims. A party on-scene was treated for a non-life threatening laceration by AMR, unknown cause at this time. Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport Attorney’s Office provided an opinion on the proposal by Fairfield University to utilize the site of the former headquarters of The Diocese of Bridgeport at 238 Jewett Avenue for a two-year college named Bellarmine College. Upon review, Mayor Ganim stated, “In light of the concerns raised by neighbors over this use and our City Attorney’s opinion which states that the subject property cannot be used for a college or university, I’m asking our Economic Development Office to work with The Diocese of Bridgeport on other possible locations within the City. Police said: " BRIDGEPORT- The Bridgeport Police are investigating two non-life threatening stabbing incidents that occurred earlier this morning. The first incident occurred on Bryant Street at 0019hrs. This incident involves a known party. The victim experienced a non-life threatening injury to the shoulder blade. Suspect was gone upon arrival. Police are actively investigating this incident. The second incident occurred at 0108hrs. St. Vincent’s Medical Center alerted the Bridgeport ECC regarding a party that just walked into their Emergency Room with a non-life threatening stab wound to the arm.
