#Fairfield CT-- The rate of new positive COVID-19 cases in Fairfield continues to trend downward. With this positive news, I hope our residents will continue to remain cautious. As we open more locations and allow for more gatherings, we are all taking on more risk of potentially reversing those trend lines. Those who are at high risk should continue to take precautions and strictly follow the CDC guidelines. All residents should continue to wear face coverings in public per the CDC and Governor's executive order. We have seen many other states across the nation experience spikes as a result of reopening and we have to anticipate the possibility that it could happen here too. SENATORS WANT ANSWERS ON BOP’S FAILURE TO RESPOND TO COVID-19 OUTBREAK AT FCI DANBURY

WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) sent a letter to Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Director Michael Carvajal seeking an explanation for BOP’s failed response to the spread of COVID-19 at FCI Danbury. The letter follows a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing “Examining Best Practices for Incarceration and Detention During COVID-19,” during which Blumenthal questioned Carvajal on BOP’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak at FCI Danbury. Norwalk Shooting UPDATE (Pursuit To Central HS)

Update: On June 11, 2020 at approximately 10:00am officers were called to Roodner Court at 261 Ely Avenue for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found one victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast to area law enforcement agencies. Bridgeport Police located the suspect in the area of Central High School where he was detained and subsequently arrested. A firearm was recovered after it was thrown from the suspect vehicle on Kings Highway East in Fairfield. Senator Wants More Money For Schools Amid Covid-19

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, on Tuesday questioned education officials on safely reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic. Investigation Sought On Unemployment Schemes

WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Today, in a letter to U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Associate Deputy Attorney General William Hughes and United States Secret Service Assistant Director Michael D’Ambrosio, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) urged the DOJ and Secret Service to open an investigation into the large-scale “impostor fraud” schemes originating from abroad targeting unemployment insurance, as well as provide assistance to states grappling with a recent siege of scams. Bridgeport News: Person Stabbed

2020-06-12@5:11am--Despite Mayor Ganim's best efforts to keep the public in dark by taking away the press's Bridgeport Police radios I did find out that there was a stabbing in the 1300 block of Fairfield Avenue near Clinton Avenue.  The victim appeared to be conscious and alert and talking to paramedics.  There was also a shooting with no one or anything hit in the north end overnight but there are no details on that.
